One Hit Wonders

What do I mean by one hit wonders? Well, in the terms of reality TV, a one hit wonder is a player that for one reason or another hasn’t played a second season. I’m going to mention a whole bunch of these players from various seasons that I felt left a huge mark on their season even though they never ended up playing another one. Also, they only did one reality show and not more than one.

Let’s start with the very first season: Borneo. Greg stands out as one of the most notable one hit wonders of this season. Colleen is also a stand out from it. Gretchen, Dirk, and Sean also stood out in different ways. From Australia, Elisabeth and Rodger both stood out. From Africa, Teresa and Silas both were notable players. From Marquesas, Paschal, John, and Gabriel left their marks. From Thailand, Jake was a pretty good player. From Amazon, Christy is one of the best players I can think of who hasn’t come back a second time yet. From Pearl Islands, both Burton and Lillian became the first two players to reenter the game after previously being eliminated and they were pretty notable as well.

Let’s go to Vanuatu next where we have Chris who shockingly hasn’t been asked back for a future season. From Palau, Coby and Ian both were great players who cost themselves in some way the game. From Guatemala, I think that Cindy, Gary, Jamie, and Rafe were all great players who have not returned again for future seasons. Then we get to Panama. That had Shane who is a likable crazy guy. Next is Cook Islands. That had Billy and Anh-Tuan, the latter who affected the game so much, we still see his plan voodoo used today. Or, I think we do, but it might have been a while. From Fiji, Earl was sort of a stand out, although not many people from the season did stand out. Next is China. Jamie is a bit of a stand out, but I didn’t like the cast of this season that much.

Next is Micronesia. That had Jason and Natalie as stand out players. Then we have Gabon. That had Marcus and Ken as notable players. Next is Tocantins. Sierra, Taj, and Brendan all had notable games when they played that. From Samoa, we had Brett and Erik was stood out a lot.

Let’s go to Nicaragua next. That had Jane, Marty, and Fabio as notable, one-time players. The next season is Redemption Island. That had Ashley, Matt, and Mike as noteworthy players. Next is South Pacific. That had Mikayla, Edna, Christine, and Elyse. Next is One World. That had Leif, Tarzan, and Sabrina. The next season is in the Philippines. That had Sarah and Zane as notable players even though neither lasted that long. That can be part of why the season is so good.

From Caramoan, we had Michael, Reynold, and Eddie as players that I liked if no one else did. From Blood versus Water, we have John, Marissa, and Caleb. From Cagayan, we have Brice, Jeremy, J’Tia, and Trish who were all notable to me in some way. From San Juan del Sur, we have Jon Misch, Reed, and Josh. From Worlds Apart, we have Mike. From Kaoh Rong, we have Neal. From Millennials versus Gen X, we have David, Brett, and Adam.

Well, that’s all I can think of for this post. Maybe I should have gone into more details with some of these people. I don’t know if all of them will remain one hit wonders, especially those who have played the most recently. I might update this later in the future. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Potential Blood versus Water Returning Players

When you think of the Blood versus Water seasons, you’d have to who else could work for a season like that. I think that there are a lot of other potential people who could return to play in a season like this should they ever do it again. Who would work? Well, this post will speculate just that.

Let’s start with the Borneo season. I’d love to see Greg play with his sister, although I doubt that he’ll return to play again. Gretchen was considered for Blood versus Water, but I don’t know who she would have ended up playing it with. From Australia, Jerri could be a good player and was considered for the original Blood versus Water. If they could get Rodger back, I’d love to see him with a child of his or some descendant. Seeing Jeff Varner and a boyfriend of his (if he has one at the time) would be nice. Another contestant from this season considered for Blood versus Water was Amber.

Contestants from Africa who were considered for Blood versus Water were Kelly, Lex, and Tom. I’d also like to see Teresa back. From Marquesas, they invited back Boston Rob. I’d also like to see John, Neleh, and Paschal back. From Thailand, I’d like to see Jake back. From Amazon, I’d like to see Rob back, although I’d doubt he’d return since he has his podcast. Christy would be a good choice. From Pearl Islands, Sandra was considered for Blood versus Water. I can’t think of really good choices for this type of season from Pearl Islands, not knowing much about the cast’s family.

Skipping to Vanuatu, Eliza was considered to play Blood versus Water with her mother but that didn’t end up happening. I’d love for Chris to play this with his wife that he lied to about his placement in the game. From Palau, Bobby Jon and Tom were offered to play Blood versus Water. I’d like to see Coby play again, but I don’t know who he’d play with. From Guatemala, Cindy and Jamie were offered to play with their twins. Judd from that season also had a twin and could play again. (I think that it was Judd and am pretty sure that at least one, if not two other people besides Cindy and Jamie have twins from that season.) Rafe would make a great player, but I don’t think that he will return since he is too busy working right now.

From Panama, Shane and Terry were both offered to play with their sons. I could also see Bruce playing this again. From Cook Islands, Jonathan and Parvati were considered for the cast of Blood versus Water. I’d think that Billy, Nate, and Anh-Tuan would be good players from that season as well. From Fiji, Yau-Man was considered for the Blood versus Water season. Rita would probably make a good player as well. From China, Peih-Gee would make a good player for Blood versus Water.

From Micronesia, I’d pick Natalie. From Gabon, I’d go with Ken and Gillian. From Tocantins, I’d go with Taj even though I don’t think she’d play again. From Samoa, I’d go with Brett and Natalie as players. I don’t really have that strong reasoning behind any of these picks.

Skipping to Nicaragua, Marty, Jane, and Holly were all considered for the first Blood versus Water but didn’t wind up playing it. I’d also like to see Brenda return. From Redemption Island, Ashley was considered for the main season and could have played if she found a partner she was able to compete with. I’d also think that Mike would be a good pick from that season. From South Pacific, Edna was considered for Blood versus Water but didn’t wind up playing. I’d also like to see Dawn and Mikayla back.

From One World, Chelsea and Troyzan were considered for the first go around at this. I’d also like to see Sabrina back. From Philippines, Denise was considered for the season and RC was almost nearly on the season before being cut at the last minute when her father couldn’t play it. I’d also think that Lisa would be a good pick too. From Caramoan, Reynold was asked back for this season. I’d also go with Eddie as well.

I don’t think that I can pick anyone from the original Blood versus Water season. I realize that I could continue to future seasons from here, so I will. But I won’t be picking someone from San Juan del Sur and I’m not going to mention all returning player seasons.

From Cagayan, I’d pick Spencer, Jeremiah, Trish, and Kass. From Worlds Apart, I’d pick Mike. From Kaoh Rong, I’d pick Tai, Neal, and Peter. From Millennials versus Gen X, I’d pick Adam, David, Zeke, Brett, and Jessica. Those are all my picks.

Survivor: Heroes versus Healers versus Hustlers with all Returning Players

As I’m starting to write this, I don’t yet know whether or not I will finish writing this and come up with this made up version of this season or not. You’d think that I’d be able to come up with enough ideas, but maybe I won’t. I guess we’ll see. If you are seeing this on my blog, then I did come up with people for this cast. Anyways, what would this season be like if all returning players did it? Well, I guess that we’ll have to see what my idea is. Also, I’m going to have to keep the heroes tribe different than how I did it with my new version of heroes versus villains. I’ll have to come up with extra heroes to share for both posts in the end. I also realize that the healers tribe may be tough to cast so I should hopefully think of good things if you’re seeing this at all.

Male heroes: Yau-Man (Fiji, Micronesia): While he was sinister in some ways, he is overall a nice person and good player worthy of the heroes tribe. Mike (Redemption Island): He heroically fought through many challenges after the merge and I like him especially since Matt, I mean, Wyatt, isn’t going to return again. Hayden (Blood versus Water): He played one of the best social games ever and is overall a good guy for the most part.

Female heroes: Darrah (Pearl Islands): She is a pretty good person who could have won her season if it weren’t for an immunity twist towards the end. Natalie (Samoa): She played a great and underrated game about beat other, villainous players. Christine (South Pacific): I want to pick another great person who did great at Redemption Island.

Male healers: Sean (Borneo): He was a doctor when he played and even, unknowingly help the first alliance be a success. John (Marquesas): I’d love to see him play again since he was a great player. Eddie (Caramoan): I wanted a fan from Caramoan even though most people don’t like that season.

Female healers: Margaret (Guatemala): She fits into this category based on her job and you’d think that they’d pick someone from this season eventually. Edna (South Pacific): I forget how she is a healer, but she is one of the few players that I like from this season, so I figure that she should return at some point. Denise (Philippines): She’s a therapist and that would be what I’d want for this season.

Male hustlers: Shane (Panama): Here is a player who knew how to irritate people. Yet he also knew how to play others. Jonathan (Cook Islands, Micronesia, Philippines): He is one of the all time greatest players in my mind and should return sometime. Brad (Blood versus Water, Game Changers): He would want to see if he can do well in the future so he could be back.

Female hustlers: Lillian (Pearl Islands): Maybe she would fit in a different tribe, but I think that she would work best here. Natalie (Micronesia): She knew how to work with others although she’s not really on their side. Kass (Cagayan, Cambodia): I love her even though she is often evil.

Alternate Male hustlers: Richard (Borneo, All-Stars), Lex (Africa, All-Stars), Burton (Pearl Islands), Coby (Palau), Ken (Gabon), John (Samoa), Marty (Nicaragua), Phillip (Redemption Island, Caramoan), Tony (Cagayan, Game Changers)

Survivor Suggestions that will Never Happen

Fans will never know how to do Survivor any better than the actual people who do it. Fans should not ever be in charge of producing the show they know and love. Although it does work out some rare times, typically, it doesn’t. So, this blog post will go through various suggestions that people have had that will probably never happen.

Gay versus straight: Different people have suggested this as the theme of a season, but most admit that it is too controversial an idea to consider. The division by race back in Cook Islands didn’t go over well even though tons of contestants like the twist. An idea like this would go over worse.

Survivor Redo: This season would just basically be the producers starting a new season with all of the old contestants from the same, previous season. This isn’t a practical idea. Plus, enough people would hate the idea of a certain group playing twice when many fans haven’t even played once.

Survivor in a cold place: Let’s just ignore the fact that they won’t be getting women in bikinis if they do this. Survivor is a plenty dangerous thing to do, even if newer seasons seem less dangerous at times. It is far more difficult to survive in a cold place and there is no way that this could work in the long term plan of the show. It could wind up with more medical evacuations than Kaoh Rong. I just don’t see it working, even as its own spin-off.

Well, starting out, I thought that I would have more to this post, but I don’t. I guess that I’ll have to work harder on other posts and you’ll see what I wind up saying then. I also don’t know yet if I’ll get Survivor: Gabon for myself on DVD or not. Maybe. Maybe not. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
