Survivor: China episode 11: Ready to Bite the Apple

Since it has already happened, I might as well talk some about the Winter Olympics in China and the diplomatic boycott that happened. I wanted at once to be on China’s side mainly because of all of the racism going on because of the pandemic, even if not all of it was targeted at those of Chinese descent.  Of course, there are a whole lot of concerning things going on with that country and I agree with the diplomatic boycott in the end.

I’m glad that the US didn’t go with a full boycott and punish the athletes. Still, with the treatment of certain Muslims in the country (with the Chinese giving us a middle finger by having one of them lighting the torch), the forced disappearances, and various other issues, then it is hard to know how to handle this the right way. Even covid origins should be public, if we can find that in the end after all.

Let’s get to the idols from Winners at War part 6. This one is kind of simple and dumb. Rob had an idol bought, but he never got back in the game so the idol was null the whole time. That’s the gist of this idol this time around.

There were two choices of what to cover in terms of challenges. I rolled the letter r and the other choice being q. There will be two choices for a while now as I will get to in this post. All I know is that I’m going to get to the challenges that start with r next.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Rice_Race

In this challenge, contestants would swim to a boat, get bags of rice, go through an obstacle course, and open the bags to get BALLS! They would then get these bags through either a holey wall or a table maze. It would use part of either house of the holey or snag, bag, and drag. It could probably be done while social distancing if done individually. I’m unsure of if this ever could be done by itself or without one of the two other challenges completing it.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Running_Down_a_Dream

In this challenge, contestants must get balls through an overhead track, catch these balls, dig their way under a log, and then do one final thing. It had a link to the challenge Matt Finish when it first appeared, which I had already covered in this season’s blog posts already. It is likely that versions of this could be done while social distancing.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Race_to_Shore

This is also known as First to Shore, One for All, Medallion of Power, and The Marooning. In this, people have to find something or get somewhere before the other tribe or before other certain members in the tribe or just everyone in the game as it would sometimes be an individual challenge at the start of the game as this is always an opening challenge to start the game. There are some ways that this could be done while social distancing, especially if turned into a relay race or done in some other fashion that could keep the people apart from one another. This was combined with the already covered jungle relay in Survivor 42.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Ram-Ball_On

In this challenge, contestants have to balance a ball on a pole while going through different obstacles while making the pole longer, get across a balance beam, untie knots to progress, put the ball on the table to get a key, unlock sandbags, and then shoot the sandbags at targets. I think that this could easily be done while social distancing. The name of this challenge is a reference to the Led Zeppelin song Ramble On, which is similar to the name of the challenge used.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Rescue_Mission

This is also known as triage and mayday. In it, people would have to rescue their other tribe mates using a stretcher or something like it. This could not be done while social distancing as it relies of people touching each other to work or otherwise being close to each other.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Rise_and_Shrine

This is also known as temple of the Syrinx, along the watch tower, tower of equality, and bonus track. In it, contestants have to race through obstacles and up large sets of walls up a tower to complete a puzzle. An individual version of this could potentially be done while social distancing if they amend the part where people have to help each other up the tower. Rise and Shrine is similar to the Christian children’s song Rise and Shine while the alternative name, along the watch tower, is a reference to the Bob Dylan song All Along the Watchtower.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Rock_Bottom

In this challenge, contestants would have to bring things from beneath the water, first finding a shell while avoiding being the last one to do it and then grabbing a rock and taking it back to shore before anyone else would. This could be done while social distancing.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Rock_n%27_Roll

This is also known as Lemme Go Rock n’ Roll, Keep Digging, and Rollings Stones. In it, contestants have to roll a boulder through checkpoints while doing tasks along the way, possibly having to climb the bolder at some point. The last two times it has appeared in both 41 and 42, the randomly divided groups created lopsidedness in strength allowing for one team to easily beat the other, only for a twist to allow those losers to count as winners instead, which created unfairness all around. This could not be done while social distancing.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Rod_Screw-It

In this challenge, tribes must hop across tables, release sandbags, then hit spinning targets to raise all of their flags. An individual version of this could be done while social distancing. It is possible that even a tribal version of this could also be done while social distancing at all, if done right.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Roll_With_It

This is also known as Blind Barrow. In it, a contestant would be strapped into a wooden spherical cage, or driving wheel in the case of David versus Goliath, who would then lead their blindfolded tribe mates to lead them through a course and then have people solve a table maze to win the challenge. It could not be done while social distancing. It was one of only a few and the very first challenge to not be completed and remains the only one not to have any tribe or individual win.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Roller_Ball

This is also known as Take the Reins and Pegs over Easy. In any of its variants, all one has to do is something like keeping a ball on a disc that gets more difficult and they often have to add more balls. This could be done while social distancing.

I’ve decided that I’m going to be sharing a Chinese paragraph in this season’s blog posts until I’m done with this season in question. I’ll try to find another place in this blog to put it in when I’m done with this season at some point. I had a lot of this foreign language paragraphs planned in advance and now I need to make sure that I do more of them as soon as I can in order to make sure that enough are done. I’m unsure if I have enough written for season 42, for instance.

In this old post from my blog on The Good Wife blog, I mention a lot of things like changes from a terrorist attack, which affected the airing of a Supergirl episode. It was switched with the next planned episode. I thought that it was weird to have an episode being promoted again that didn’t wind up airing in the first place, but then found out what went on. I also thought of not doing a font that I would wind up doing again. I’m also unsure of what I meant by saying Alicia is part of a client.

https://adamdeckergoodwifetvshow.blogspot.com/2016/06/november-fifteenth-2015s-episode.html

There’s only one video that I’m going to share in this post. This one is a now famous video called I Like Cats. She is not a woman that I’m dating. I have the feeling that she might still be single. So maybe I should be trying to date her. I just don’t know the age difference between us. I have the feeling that I am long overdue for signing up for online dating or something like that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTTwcCVajAc

Getting to when this episode was rolled, it was on 4-20-2022 that I was able to see this episode and will now get to what happened in it. I can only hope that I don’t need to see any more of them for quite some time since I’m long needing to get caught up on tapes but have been ignoring them for a while. We’ll see how I juggle things around, especially after season 42 ends.

We begin with Jeff explaining what is going on with a reward taking place at tribal council. It is nice to, after a double cliffhanger with it being the same one, finally get to what is happening next. All one has to do to win the challenge is get five questions right before anyone else does. But what is there is a tie? It is hard to know unless it happens. Peih-Gee winds up winning the reward. She winds up picking Erik and Denise to go along with her. Everyone heads back to camp first.

The reward winners don’t want all of the players at camp to eat their food. Denise is concerned about what might be happening without them. Todd thinks that these four should be the final four. James wants everyone to frolic naked without someone biting the apple. Courtney wants to take James out. James is rather annoying.

Anyways, the reward winners go on their reward with Peih-Gee not liking going in their state. She thinks that the three of them can get James to join them. But the focus of this is more about how great their experience at the temple that they go to is. Peih-Gee likes learning more about her Chinese heritage there. Denise was really glad that she was picked on the reward and even shows off her martial arts skills there as well. They all have a good time and I’m going to repeat a common joke you might have heard of already in case you’ve seen this before. I know this wasn’t a Confucius temple, but I’m going to make jokes relating to them for the rest of this season. The rest of them will be original.

Confucius says: He who runs in front of car gets tired. He who runs behind car gets exhausted.

I realize that this would have been better timed back when they had covered one of his expressions in one of the reward challenges, but I got confused and forgot that this was the Shaolin temple that was focused on in this episode. There’s actually way more than just one Confucius temple.

Back to the episode, the rest of the tribe is at a cave back at camp that somehow exists and they are upset largely when other people return there. Todd is especially annoying and I’ll get more to him in the next post of this blog. The next day, Amanda is talking to Courtney. Was Amanda naked just now? Didn’t she say that her mother would kill her for when her breasts were revealed earlier this season? Wait. She’s in a camouflage bikini. I didn’t see that at first. Anyways, Amanda wants to blindside James.

This leads to the immunity challenge. Peih-Gee is the first one out, not scoring any points. Todd goes next and gets three points hitting the very private part of the silhouette. Erik goes next and gets a lot of points. Courtney ties with Erik. James gets six like others as well. Amanda also gets six. That’s good since three sixes are considered satanic. Denise doesn’t get enough points. We get a top four instead of a top three. They only get one throw each. Erik does the best and wins the challenge as a result.

At camp, James is convinced that Peih-Gee will be the next person voted out. Amanda is convinced that now is their chance to target James and vote him out. Todd is, of course, worried about the idol like he should be. Peih-Gee is also concerned about this. She talks to Amanda about this. Peih-Gee is told to act like she’s going home and not talk about it. She still tells Erik about this. Erik is concerned about going along with this in the end. James is convinced that things will be good if he gets passed tonight. He still wants to play an idol if he has to.

This takes us to tribal council. Denise was happy about the reward. James said that the former Zhan Hu were losers but Peih-Gee points out that they’ve won immunities and will need to vote for someone if they wind up on the jury so James should be nicer than he is. Peih-Gee thinks that she is the one who will be the target tonight. The votes are cast. Peih-Gee votes for Todd. James votes for Peih-Gee. The rest of the players, namely Erik, Amanda, Courtney, Todd, and Denise vote for James. James infamously does not play either idol of his and gets voted out as a result.

On the next Survivor, the tribe is overcome by emotion, Amanda seeks to turn on Todd, and Denise is the swing vote who wants to do or die. But this isn’t a do or die moment as that won’t happen for the first time until season 41.

Total confessional count: James- 32, Amanda- 19, Courtney- 21, Todd- 38, Peih-Gee- 24, Denise- 18, Erik- 18. New confessionals this episode: Erik- 2, James- 4, Amanda- 1, Courtney- 2, Todd- 3, Peih-Gee- 5, Denise- 4.

James, I feel, might be seen by some fans more in rose colored glasses that he has always seems to have been portrayed throughout his seasons. He has always been annoying. Yet people point out that he is unlucky when it comes to him playing Survivor. Part of me thinks that he wanted to ruin his reputation to avoid being asked back for Survivor. But he did play again.

In Micronesia, the very next season, he made Survivor history by being the second person who was medically evacuated from a single season. It was over a finger that put him on the jury. But that would not be his last time playing the game.

In Heroes versus Villains, he returned as a hero and got injured yet again in a challenge so infamous, it got banned from appearing again. He wasn’t the only one ever hurt by it. While it didn’t ultimately get him voted out of the game right away or ever pulled from the game, it did get him voted out not too much later long before the merge happened.

So what are his chances of playing the game again? I’d put it at about a 20% chance of happening. I don’t think that he wants to return and a lot of fans don’t like him as much anymore. I do think that it made sense that he wasn’t considered for Philippines since he had already played since being medically evacuated, the first of any of the evacuated players to do so.

There’s not too much else to add. If it isn’t obvious by now, I will post any spoilers about a season that has already aired, even if I’m blogging about it again or first the first time. Note that when I get to a major spoiler of this season in the introduction to the next post, as it is something that I feel needs to be addressed. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode 42.8

Since I talked some the Wednesday shows that I watched between Survivor seasons before both Lent and the schedule change, I should also focus on the Wednesday shows that I have watched at the time since Survivor has returned. I’m not watching much on Wednesdays. Other than Survivor, the shows that I’m watching are The Flash, Kung Fu, and Home Economics. I’m not seeing anything at 9 since I was and still am spending time doing other things. By now, it seems too late in the schedule to get into anything new. Regarding what I could potentially watch if I were seeing something at 9, I would want to see if Chicago PD is any good. I don’t think that I’d want to check out A Million Little Things since it seems like it is going to be cancelled soon, although this might not be the case in the end. I had checked out Domino Masters, but didn’t care enough to watch it again. It seemed more cliché than not.

Let’s get to the one time challenges from the twenty-second season. It is interesting that this season just happened to be the next one due to the Survivor death that I’ll get to. The major flaw with this season wasn’t so much that some challenges were only used once, but that some challenges debuted as a duel this season. Jeff had originally stated that all duels were challenges that had been done before. This was a lie as he tends to lie a lot (typically about how good a season will be, although good is subjective).

Push it Uphill (opening challenge from You’re Looking at the New Leader of Your Tribe): This challenge has four blocks being pushed along a track to form the base of a temple. Up steps, a player will cut down a series of ropes releasing another set of steps. At the top, a block puzzle will complete their temple. I could maybe see parts of this done while social distancing, especially if things are done as a relay race. I feel that a relay race might be my favorite idea in regards to a social distancing challenge.

Toolin’ Around (tribal challenge from Don’t You Work for Me): In this challenge, the tribe members would have to use tools that they have from a Craftsman tool kit to do various tasks in order to win the challenge. After crossing a balance beam, contestants would then use a crowbar to get a shovel, use that shovel to dig for an axe, use that axe to cut through a log to release saws, use the saws to cut through a wall to release planks, use those planks to complete a ramp to get everyone on top of a platform, hammer down three tiles to break them on said platform, and end by putting the toolbox with all of the tools on top of a platform. This could be done while social distancing if made into, you guessed it, a relay race.

Mayan Pizza (immunity challenge from Rice Wars): In this challenge, what it basically boiled down to was there being one puzzle solved in the first round and then another puzzle solved in the final round. It could easily be done while social distancing.

There was a lot that I talked about in this old Madam Secretary blog post. I mentioned various updates as to what I watch on DVD. I talked about when I was catching up on Survivor: Palau. I had updates with my TV blog. I talked about the ranking football teams and how it wound up being changed over time. For instance, the delay that I talked about didn’t lower the ranking of those teams and I’ve decided that I will only root for the Rams as the first team, but not anything else before them.

I also talk about a potential winning streak of The Kansas City Chiefs that I might have been wrong about. I thought that they had the longest winning streak of all the football teams, but am unsure of that since I misread something on Wikipedia to lead to that idea. I’d have to check from before the 2016 NFL season and then catch up to the present at the time. I also mention the vote regarding Rams move with two football teams owners voting against it. While we don’t know for sure which two teams it was, the most likely explanation is that it was the Chargers and Raiders since if the Rams moved to LA, then neither of them would, at least that season. There could be other explanations, but I’m not sure if any of them make sense.

This, of course, leads me to reference my Still a Rams Fan facebook group for loyalists of the Rams despite their move to LA. It will still be updated a bit throughout the offseason and I may mention a bit more about that and some other facebook groups of mine in past seasons since it actually relates to Sundays and Sunday from Survivor. I also mentioned in the blog post about losing the election instead of primary, which is sort of different. The president had lost the primary and not the general election.

https://adamdeckermadamsecretaryblog.blogspot.com/2017/02/episode-from-10-2-2016.html

I did talk about the National Anthem Protests in that post which did not blow over as I thought that it might. It is still done and talked about. There are times that I remain seated for the flag myself. I do think that this confuses people who are familiar with the other football term called taking a knee. I know that some people get pissed off by it. Know that they have a right not to like it just like they have a right to do it as much as they want to.

There should be updates on football rankings to come, potentially, with me going through all of the tiers of football teams that I have starting at the first one and working my way down. There are a lot of teams that I will talk about and I hope that it makes sense to people.

Movie update: On Friday, a lot was potentially going on and I felt that watching a movie wasn’t the right idea so, instead, I watched a Survivor: Borneo episode instead. On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, family visits prevented me from seeing a movie then. Sunday night, I was busy watching primetime. On Monday, I watched That Darn Cat. I replaced that with The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. I did not see a movie on Tuesday and had not even finished watching That Darn Cat until after this episode aired. As usual, I’m writing this post out of order.

After the last episode aired, I learned about the death of Ralph from Survivor: Redemption Island which means that I will want to see that season again. I’m going to share my ranking of that season again. I have it ranked as 12 out of 41* seasons. Since I’ve shared that before, I might as well also share the ranking of Nicaragua. That ranks as 18 out of 41* seasons.

*The current season is not yet ranked.

In the first segment of the show, Romeo realizes that he was the target of a split. He wants to kick people in the face. But one can’t be cheesing or choosing. Hai wants to figure out who voted for him. It was Omar who voted for him. The next day, Rocksroy, Mike, and others want to do an all male alliance. Mike is convinced that it won’t last. Omar doesn’t like this idea. Hai thinks that it is sexist. I’m not sure if any all male alliance has worked and I can think of only one all female alliance that did. Rocksroy is now the target by at least two of these men, Hai and Omar.

In the second segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge. We learn of the twist today and the split tribal council. It is over pretty quickly with Hai and Jonathan fighting it out for each team and it ultimately being Jonathan who wins reward. Mike is convinced that everything will be smooth for his tribe’s tribal council.

In the third segment of the show, Romeo thinks that Rocksroy’s “perfect” plan of an all men’s alliance is coming apart since all five of them are in a group and one of them will have to be voted out. Hai thinks that he’s the target in this group, not having allies in this group. Omar is convinced that there can be enough of them to go after Rocksroy. Mike wants to stick with his alliance and promise to Rocksrory and not be seen as untrustworthy to the other group.

Jonathan and the women enjoy their reward. Lindsay thinks that they will get rid of Tori. Jonathan wants to vote for Drea and get rid of her idol but tells Maryanne that Drea should vote for Maryanne. Tori is not to be told of this plan, but Maryanne spoils some of this which Tori is okay with since it means that she’s not a target. Tori should psychoanalysis the reason behind Survivor contestant’s not keeping secrets. Drea doesn’t like the idea of Maryanne being targeted due to her idol. Lindsay doesn’t think that Jonathan is thinking as clearly as he could be. Jonathan wants people to listen to him.

In the fourth segment of the show, we get to the first of tonight’s tribal councils. They have to deal with a lot of the rain whereas Jeff and others in production don’t have to suffer like this. Some of the tribe feels mellow. It is like a game of chicken. They acted like guys. Well, they are guys. Roar! Not much can be gained from tribal council and the voting takes place. We cut to commercial before we get to much else. Did someone play a shot in the dark? I guess we’ll find out soon.

In the fifth segment of the show, not much happens at first other and Rocksroy, the leader of the all male alliance, getting voted out. How often does the leader of an alliance get voted out by people who are supposed to be there?

Anyways, the next group arrives and reacts of Rocks being voted out. I knew that paper would beat him. If the voting were done on scissors, there’s no way he would have lost. Maryanne talks about how she doesn’t know what to make of what just happened. Tori thinks that the twist is good news. How often are they going to do it? I mean, aren’t people going to expect it if they keep doing it? Or will it go the way of the double tribal council for a long time when it didn’t happen for such a long streak of time?

Drea doesn’t like black people being voted out and says that she will play her idol. Jonathan then does a secret whispering with Maryanne and Lindsay. Maryanne doesn’t want to vote for Drea anymore. Some of the voting wants to be against Tori now, but Tori isn’t meant to be told of this. Jonathan doesn’t think that race has anything to do with the vote offs. Maryanne also reveals her idol and wants to play it. I’m confused. Is this about race? I guess that this is the peril of the new casting. Tori thinks that they are okay to feel that way. This isn’t a bad conversation since it is deep. And this isn’t the fake deep thoughts that Jack Handy would do. I forget what some of those are and may make some up. Or not. I could just share others that I’ve seen.

Jonathan is glad that they are having this moment that is bigger than the game. In a weird like moment, both Drea and Maryanne play their idols. Tori is now telling people that she is playing the shot in the dark, making it either she is safe and Lindsay is voted out or Tori isn’t safe and is voted out instead. This creates a weird vote without a vote unlike many we have had before, but certainly like a few others that have happened here and there. Tori mentions God. He hasn’t come up before this season, has he?

On the next Survivor, the right person has to be voted out, Jonathan might be a target, it seems that Mike is finding things annoying as usual. There’s always one, right? What’s up with that? Why is there always one constantly annoyed player each season? Should I go through who I feel each of them are? Oh wait. I got rid of comments. It’s a shame. I got more spam comments on this blog than legit ones. But there is no way that I’m going to ignore them and let them stand. That would make people think that it is okay to do that. Anyways, it might be more of a recent season thing anyways. But it has possibly happened since at least China.

Total confessional count: Drea- 15, Jonathan- 13, Omar- 24, Rocksroy- 12, Lindsay- 9, Romeo- 13, Hai- 18, Tori- 11, Maryanne- 16, Mike- 21.

New confessionals this episode: Jonathan- 1, Omar- 3, Rocksroy- 1, Lindsay- 2, Romeo- 3, Hai- 4, Tori- 1, Maryanne- 1, Mike- 2, Drea- 1.

It is hard to make much sense of the confessional count and, if you can’t tell my now, I don’t talk as much about it and only really show it to keep track of it. In the meantime, I’m going to share the last planned set of blog posts for now. I won’t share anymore until I know the schedule for next season with the return dates of both Survivor 43 and CSI: Vegas.

Episode 1.1b

Well, I don’t know just how long it will be since writing the previous post before I’ll be able to start with the old episodes of this season again. I hope that it won’t be too long, but also that I’ll have time to see all of the other old seasons of Survivor that I want to before I get to doing this one. I especially hope that I can get Survivor: All-Stars at some point in time.

I might explain more about how I know for a fact that I will be watching this season at least three more times with it being added to the end of a list at least two more times after this time later. Meanwhile, it could be a while before you see a poll somewhere about what contestant from a season I have I should do a recap of since I’ll be watching specific seasons for specific players that I’ll roll to choose from instead. I also don’t know if it will be in the Addicted to Survivor facebook group or somewhere else that I’ll do this potential poll in. I had issues doing polls in general with the new facebook so one may not be done again in the future depending on how it works.

Since I’m talking about the first season of Survivor, I might as well promote the podcast that I was in at one point since it is relevant. You see, a topic covered in this was which season a person felt had the most unique cast and someone (not me) picked Borneo. This topic is covered at about 53:40. To date, a YouTube channel called TVsins has covered only one Survivor episode that I know of. It was done so long ago that it still uses the original narrator of it who also does CinemaSins. Since it was the first episode of Survivor that they covered, then I might as well share it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsDLeUd3-PE

Of course, I’ve complained some about TVsins in a way that may not make sense to everyone and that includes me. I did a post about that in my TV blog. What it basically boiled down to is that I felt and still do feel that they exploit very recent streaming content too soon and it is often always on a paid site since I don’t honestly know of any streaming sites for TV shows that are entirely free and also legal to use for people who want to. I’ll still watch videos from it at times, but won’t go out of the way to catch up on it like I try to with other channels like CinemaSins still.

Since I’m trying to keep you updated on some different missionary links that are important, you should know that one YouTube video will be shared as long as I can watch it at some point in time. Meanwhile, I will share a link to the Belize Mission Society which mentions two other missionaries that I have shared before already. This is a catch all for all of the Belize missionary work that I know of thus far.

When I had thought of and worked out the potential of doing a third list of shows on DVD or stuff that is like it, what I knew was that I was needing at least 5 choices after it or having a good sorted list of two choices and making this a third choice. I got it to happen which is a long story short. I will mention what the choices are on the list.

Before I get much further, I should mention the Thursday shows that I watched around Lent in 2022. I did not have to worry about missing that much on Maundy Thursday since the ABC shows that I care about, Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, are on hiatus. I am not interested in Big Sky anymore. I still have old episodes of it to catch up on. I may return to it if it winds up ending this season.

Speaking of other shows that I couldn’t keep up with, I checked out both Welcome to Flatch and How We Roll, but will not be keeping up with either show a second time. I was also briefly into The United States of Al, but that did not last long past its amazing second season premiere. The other shows that I keep up with that air on Thursdays are the final season of Bull, SVU, Law and Order: Organized Crime, and Young Sheldon.

It was at first unknown if or how the third list will be done away with, merged, or woven into other lists. It is possible that this will affect the first two lists at some point. What is also interesting is that there are two other choices on my newest list that will result in my writing notes in a document for it. One will result in a TV blog post. The other will be part of a YouTube channel. I will keep notes somewhere in this blog about what will happen with different lists and how things will change. I did more rigging of various choices to even get the third list to happen when and how it did without it causing other complications of some sort that could have happened instead. A fourth list could have issues or maybe not. It will all depend on what I decide to maybe add as an emergency sixth option that I wouldn’t get normally.

Let’s get to challenges that start with L from Survivor fandom. There’s not much of an introduction to this section to put here. I was thinking that two choices could branch out and this is one of them that is branching out at this point in time.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Ladder_Tree_Golf

This is also known as Dizzy Gillespie, Chain Reaction, and True Grit. In this challenge, contestants have to get a certain number of bolas on a pole in a game similar to ladder toss and once had them competing for points to get a high score. This challenge could be done while social distancing in various ways.

For those who want to know more about it, here’s a link to the Wikipedia page on ladder toss. There is not much else to state about it. I’m unsure why people hate Wikipedia. Do people indoctrinate others with a hatred of it? The site is way more reliable than others would have you think. And people think that one should use google. Where is google going to take you most of the time? That’s right: Wikipedia. So what’s the issue with the site?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladder_toss

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Last_Gasp

In this challenge, contestants have to outlast each other before running out of breathing air, as they are in a water waiting for high tide to come in. While this challenge could be done while social distancing, I do not like it or want it to appear again. It seems too dangerous.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Letter_Hunt

This challenge is also known as sudden death. In it, contestants have to get bags of puzzle pieces of letters and have to use them to solve a phrase. This challenge could be done while social distancing. It is possible it could be done that way regardless of if the challenge is even tribal, potentially.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Lock,_Load_and_Light

In it, the complicated challenge has the tribes racing over obstacles, assemble a puzzle boat, row out to light a torch, row back, take the boat apart again, solve another puzzle, make another climbing wall, and then use their torch to light a bale. I think that it is possible to do this while social distancing if it were turned into a relay race with each single contestant given one of the tasks at hand.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Lock_Step

This is also known as unchained and temptation valley. In this challenge, contestants have to do a series of tasks or obstacles while attached to each other before they cross the finish line and win the challenge. This could not be done while social distancing as it would rely on people being too close to each other for the challenge.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Log_Jam

This is also known as lake log game. In it, contestants have to outlast their opponent while rolling on a log in a competition. Depending on how long the log would be, it could be done while social distancing. I just don’t know if that would create too much of a sight disadvantage.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Losing_Face

This is also known as bail out, box car blues, ball-istic missiles, and heroes end. In it, contestants must get through obstacles and then use slingshots to knock down targets. This challenge could maybe be done while social distancing, if turned into a relay race.

I’m now going to mention what the rolling list is and how it could affect other past Survivor seasons watching. I have some old seasons out in a bubble for potential future use that might happen at some point in time and other seasons could be frozen in place for a while. This one will have priority over a lot of other seasons that are on the older lists already.

Here are the choices to add in the order that they will be added in: NCIS season 10, Invader Zim season 1 (look out for a potential vlog about these episodes on my YouTube channel), Wallace and Gromit, Dr. Seuss tapes, Survivor: Borneo, and The Big Bang Theory season 10. In addition to being the fifth in line in terms of seniority on this list, Survivor: Borneo is also number 5 on the list of things to roll from. Not all of these can move up to the next list due to same letter rules that I have. I will also talk some about how this moving up past all of the ones before it will affect higher lists as well. This means that Survivor: China could be frozen out of being watched should Survivor: Borneo be what needs to be moved to the next list in line.

Since I’m wanting to add paragraphs in foreign languages in this Survivor blog of mine, I decided that the one that would best work would be a Latin paragraph for all of these season’s posts. Or, maybe not all of them in the event that I wind up sharing the original English paragraphs for when I shared these types of things in my blogs on Madam Secretary or The Good Fight.

It was on Earth Day or 4-22-2022 when this episode was “rolled” as in decided to be watched with me having the chance to do it. I will not know when I might have this chance to see it again. Know that I am juggling a lot of things around and can only hope that I stay as caught up as possible or that I want to in this blog’s past season’s posts. It was a Friday when this happened which delayed a post that would not have been ready anyways. I should be getting to that one before the week is over.

We begin with 16 people agreeing to be marooned on Borneo. They have only two minutes to get as many supplies as they can off of the boat that they are on. The contestants from each tribe are then gone through with Tagi being introduced first and Pagong second. They met for the first time and it is more than just survival skills, it is social skills as well. They must survive the island and each other.

Rudy talks on Tagi about how they should get rid of some boxes that are dead weight by putting them on the boat. Kelly disagrees with this. Meanwhile, Pagong finally arrives at their beach 3 hours after the marooning with Ramona worn out already. Dirk thinks that people like Richard annoy him. Richard thinks that they should function together. He gets into issues with Sue. He is convinced that they have already written the check for a million dollars for him while wanting to keep his cocky attitude in check. Can he do it? I guess we’ll have to see. Of course, I’ve already seen this.

The Tagi tribe opens rations. Is that unique to this season? Richard still tries to take control of his tribe while also expressing an interest in group mentality. When I say team, you say work. Team. Oh, wait. I had to get rid of the comments.

On Pagong, B. B. and Ramona take an hour to find water. B. B. says that neither him nor Ramona should give up the secret of the water or else they will get voted out. I guess that they both failed on that front. Maybe they need to wade, in the water.

Not much is happening back at Tagi. Sonja gets hurt a bit and is treated by Sean, the doctor. Sonja then sings a song on her ukulele. Richard is able to catch a rat. I wonder if this will be important to an allegory at the very end of this season. But he is going after prey.

Going back to Pagong, Ramona wasn’t able to sleep that much. B. B. takes charge of his tribe, but his work ethic annoys everyone. Gretchen tells him not to work too hard since she thinks that he will wear himself out. He doesn’t take this advice. On day two, Gretchen is able to make fire with the glasses that B. B. has. Tagi, meanwhile, is not able to make fire. But they don’t have someone with glasses on their tribe, do they? This could be a spoiler about who wins immunity tonight.

The Tagi tribe is shown reading the message about the upcoming challenge. It relates to fire. They will get 50 waterproof matches in addition to immunity. A storm is coming as the challenge starts. They have to light every torch and Sonja falls behind despite a good effort by her tribe at first. Also, is it just me or did the Tagi tribe have a bit more ground to cover than Pagong did? That has always bothered me about this challenge since the tribes were so close too.

After the loss, Dirk, a possible youth minister, reads the bible. Rudy bounds with Richard some. Rudy has some work ethic that some people don’t like it. Rudy is thought of as arrogant. But Richard also thinks that he won’t last if they realize that about him. They still bound for now. The people on Tagi all talk about who to vote with too much seeming unsure right now.

Jeff sizes up a few of the contestants on Tagi before they get to tribal council by walking there. They will get their torches back at camp and are able to bring fire as a result. Jeff talks a lot before some of the players on the tribe get to talk some, but not much happens at the tribal council. A chest with the money is there at tribal council.

The votes are cast with Richard voting for Stacey. Kelly, Stacey, and Sonja vote for Rudy. Rudy, Sean, Sue, and Dirk all vote for Sonja. It is thus Sonja that is voted out of the game first before anyone else is. She has to leave the tribal council area immediately. That catch phrase annoys me some. But I don’t think that he uses it anymore. I should pay attention.

Next week on Survivor, B. B. continues to irate people, Rudy and Richard become pretty good friends, but not in a homosexual way, that’s for sure. Sonja thinks that her tribe made the right decision when she talks in her final words.

Total confessional count: Rudy- 3, B. B.- 2, Kelly- 3, Richard- 5, Sue- 1, Colleen- 0, Sonja- 3, Jenna- 0, Joel- 0, Dirk- 1, Ramona- 2, Gervase- 0, Greg- 0, Gretchen- 1, Sean- 1, Stacey- 1.

I don’t think that I missed anyone, although it will be hard for me to tell and keep up with whether or not these numbers will match up with past ones that I’ve shared before. Anyways, I’m now going to talk about what I feel are Sonja’s chances of returning to play the game again. I know that she is older and a lot of time has passed. She doesn’t have much to offer outside of being the first boot and first boots who are first time players are typically never seen again. I give her about a 17% chance of playing the game again someday. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode 42.7

In honor of the week of Easter which has now come and gone, I’m going to mention the Sunday shows that I watch. I don’t watch too much on Sundays right now. I watch The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, The Great North, Family Guy, 60 Minutes, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Equalizer, The Rookie, and S.W.A.T.

While I now want to get to the one time challenges from the twentieth season, there are none. That makes it the first season both chronologically and ever to never have a single challenge in it be used only once. Thus, I’m going to get to the one time challenges from the twenty-first season.

Getting Tanked (immunity challenge from Young at Heart): In this challenge, contestants would have to have one of them on top of a tower to pour water down five gutters that five different players were holding. Once a barrel is full, a net of puzzle pieces would be released. The remaining players in the challenge would then assemble the puzzle with the first team to solve it winning. I think that it could be potentially done while social distancing, but there would have to be less people with it and only one doing the puzzle. I’m not sure that I’d like that variant. The only variant that anyone can like nowadays is Loki from the TV show of the same name.

Hay Mate (challenge from Fatigue Makes Cowards of us All): In this challenge, players would have to crawl in the mud under a net to get balls from a stack of hay. After being taken out of a casing, shields would be used to bounce balls into a barrel. Getting all four balls in would get you out, of attending tribal council, that is. I could potentially see this being done while social distancing if turned into a relay race if only one person had to do certain tasks.

Don’t Let Your Balls Drop (reward challenge from Turf Wars): In this challenge, both tribes have a ball that is coming down in random ways that have to be caught by members of the other tribe. If the ball hits the ground, the tribe that put the ball on the board (or the tribe that didn’t have members that just failed to catch it) gets a point. Once you get three points, you win the challenge. This could be done while social distancing. It seems very similar to the Price is Right game Plinko. The key difference is that you can get something good at any place of it in theory unless you don’t.

Cannon Ski-Ball (immunity challenge from What Goes Around, Comes Around): In this challenge, there are cannonballs that will be rolled by two people down a steep chute. The other four members will aim the chute while trying to break the other tribe’s tiles. Once all of them are broken, you’d win. If this could be done with less people at a time or while being able to stay away from each other, then it could be done while social distancing.

Poolin’ Around (reward challenge from This is Going to Hurt): In this challenge, contestants would work with their loved ones to compete in the challenge. The players would get two bags of puzzle pieces from a pool. These would be given to their loved ones who would then solve the word puzzle. If this were a true individual challenge, it could be done while social distancing.

Donkey Dig (penultimate immunity challenge from What about Me?): In this challenge, it makes use of the challenge Survivor folklore in certain ways. Players would have to get questions right about the history of Nicaragua. Once they get the valid puzzle pieces, they’d have to solve the puzzle in order to win the challenge at hand. It could probably be done while social distancing.

In this post from my Madam Secretary blog, I talk about linking this up with my Survivor blog and blogging about the season Palau. Nearly all of that blog was late for a while and most of it outdated since I was done blogging about Palau that time by the time that these posts were published. I also talk about presidents replacing cabinet members. As I now know quite well, anyone who is not the vice-president can be replaced at any time the president wants (or at least fired) and even the vice-president can be replaced by a different running mate or other reasons via the 25th Amendment.

Movie update: On Friday, I chose not to watch a movie because of Good Friday and family visits. I had instead watched an episode of NCIS that I was not able to finish until Saturday when I would have then normally watched a different selection of movies. On Easter Sunday, I could see nothing from either list due to first a family visit for lunch and then new primetime shows during supper. On Monday, I watched The Bourne Identity. I replaced it with The Bourne Supremacy. I did not watch a movie on Tuesday as I was still finishing Monday’s movie then.

Since Lydia was the most recent person voted out of this Survivor season, I might as well get to sharing the only song currently that I know of that has the name Lydia in its title and that’s Lydia the tattooed lady, this version being from The Muppet Show.

Well, it is unfortunate based on the feedback that I would have liked more of, but due to all of the spam that people or bots were posting in the comments of this blog, I had no choice but to ban comments, or I’m pretty sure, at least that I did. I might do more bans in other blogs should people start posting spam there as well. And that would include foreign language spam. If you do have any legit comments that you want to post about any of this blog, then go to my Madam Secretary blog and be sure to start your comment with “I wanted to post this in your Survivor blog:”

Something else that I’m wondering about is if the people with them can combine their advantage amulet into one. I mean, they did have that super idol in Kaoh Rong that was like that in a way. Maybe these people can get a regular idol that way. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, the now merged tribe, Kula Kula, is wondering whether or not there will be a merge feast at all. Chanelle didn’t like being on the wrong side of the numbers. Drea has to talk to Romeo to ensure that they are still allies. Maryanne feels like she’s on the bottom of the tribe. Mike wants to be seen as an ally to others. He also talks to Omar about Islam for over an hour and Mike learns that they aren’t that different. Deep down you’ll find I’m just like you. Tori looks forward to a potential food reward since it makes lips loose. I think that she’s thinking of having an advantage.

At the reward challenge, we learn that there is a beware advantage at the challenge at the sit-out bench there. Drea wants to switch with Maryanne so that Drea is sitting out instead of Maryanne. I might have done the same thing maybe since I don’t like peanut butter and jelly either. Of course, now, I’d be more likely to be looking for an advantage since one has been there now three times at least. We never even know what the advantage was that Xander didn’t find last season. (That should have been most people’s hint that he wasn’t going to win since he missed things that were there like a winner wouldn’t.) It turns out that Drea does get the advantage that she notices is there. It is the blue team that wins.

In the second segment of the show, Jonathan and others like the reward. Others that lost are more okay with it than they otherwise might be. Different names are brought up like Tori, Chanelle, and Romeo. Omar is playing all sides right now. That’s normally too risky a move. Zane became the first boot of his season, Philippines, because of it. Of course, he was too open with everyone about it. Anyways, we see Drea getting the knowledge is power advantage getting her four advantages total. I can’t even keep track of who all has what advantage. I just hope that an idol is played correctly this season. Drea has to worry about red paint on her hand that Tori notices and is suspicious of.

In the third segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge with Jeff talking about another sit-out for rice component of the challenge. The next person voted out starts the jury. The tribe members also negotiate themselves who will sit out of the challenge. Ultimately, the four sit-outs happen with Lindsay, Maryanne, Omar, and Drea all sitting out. Why was Maryanne so emotional about it? She has an idol. Of course, one could realize that if someone has an idol, they could be thought of as someone with an idol in the event that they chose to sit out. Tori wins the challenge. Of course, they would show the wobbly person as the winner. I was sketchy of the detail for a moment, though. Drea wants the vote out to be Romeo, Chanelle or Romeo.

In the fourth segment of the show, it appears that the main target of the vote might be Chanelle. But when Romeo learns that he was one of the names brought up, he scrambles a lot. This appears to have a negative effect as they now want to target Romeo instead. Mike still wants to vote out Chanelle. And he wants to convince his alliance to stick with his target. Was Rocksroy’s name brought up? I couldn’t tell for sure. It might be Romeo who is voted out, but we’ll see if he is or isn’t.

In the fifth segment of the show, we get to tribal council and I can’t even summarize a lot of what had just happened since I was too busy getting supper ready. And if you think that’s bad, I’m working on writing a completely different Survivor episode from a different season that is paused right now. It does seem that the sit-outs aren’t targets.

People talk about whether they want to drive or be a passenger in a car. Do you ever have dreams where a car is driving widely out of control, but not in a way that it normally would in reality without causing a crash? Maybe it is driving on an interstate and no one is at the wheel as you seek to get in control. Or maybe someone else is driving in a way that makes you quite uncomfortable.

Anyways, after the worst tribal council recap ever, Chanelle is voted out of the game with some scattered votes for other, random people. I just thought of something, should you let the secondary target be legit since they will know this when votes for them are read? They would be quite wary of this if they know they could be a target the second time around.

On the next Survivor, there will be two immunities and two people going home as it seems that there is the usual split tribal council that has largely happened since Ghost Island. And other stuff was known in the promo as well such as maybe issues with Jonathan and Lindsay.

Total confessional count: Lindsay- 7, Romeo- 10, Hai- 14, Chanelle- 16, Tori- 10, Maryanne- 15, Mike- 19, Drea- 14, Jonathan- 12, Omar- 21, Rocksroy- 11.

New confessionals this episode: Romeo- 1, Hai- 0, Chanelle- 1, Tori- 2, Maryanne- 2, Mike- 4, Drea- 3, Jonathan- 1, Omar- 4, Rocksroy- 0, Lindsay- 0.

I’m unsure based on the confessional count who the potential winner of this season might be. I don’t think that it’s Omar, although he has been seen more. I doubt that it is Tori. Maryanne seems unlikely. Mike is kind of out there so I’m unsure of him. I’m not as confident regarding Jonathan. And yet, all of the people I just mentioned seem more likely than not to be the winner than the others. We’ll find out if they are playing the fourth quiet game in a row. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
