Hiatus

This blog has gotten a bit wonky recently in terms of how it has been updated. And I’m going to take a break from it for a bit before I get to anymore posts on the episodes of season 43. You see, I do not have enough time to write these episodes with what is going on in my life and want to take a break until I have such time until I have the time. This will not be the only blog going on hiatus, although there might be a few of them (I hope) that won’t have to or I can do during this time.

I won’t tell you why here as the post hiatus posts will be explained in my CSI: Cyber blog which I will link to here once it is up. This should at least give me time to catch up on various things like writing the foreign language paragraphs that need done in addition to everyone else outside of the recaps. I will see you hopefully in January. Note that I’m also not sharing old season posts until I’m done with the last two episodes of season 43. I’ll also post a new schedule when I can as you can ignore the ones that I have done since these aren’t important or will be used anymore right now. I have a lot to figure out and will be glad to have more time to spend to do it. Until then, I’ll see you later.

Episode 43.11

While I haven’t talked about it as much or all the time, since I now have a blog where I cover tech in blog posts, I might cover how my blogs affect other blogs of mine. I should express my annoyance with that even though I should be more in control that I am with that. These are my blogs after all. I do have some limited control over some of what happens with it so I will do and change some of the timing of it when it works out. Basically, I have three days of the week occupied with four blogs right now and this will change over time with me ready to do blogs at other times. I might even do certain movie lists on certain days of the week in order to help me out like this.

Next, I would want to get to the one time challenges from the thirty-sixth season, but for the third time, there are none. That season, Ghost Island, is the first season with all new players not to have any unique challenges as the other two ones so far were all star seasons with all returning players. I thus must go to the one time challenges from the thirty-seventh season.

Open (reward/opening challenge from Appearances are Deceiving): In this challenge, there is a set up between the two tribes. One tribe got to pick the other tribe’s perceived weakest two members of each gender before picking their own tribe’s strongest perceived members of each gender. The other tribe would then pick the three obstacles that they would have to do. It is possible that something like this could be done while social distancing, although I’m unsure how or if they could change this challenge to be done in random seasons instead of this specific one.

Carry on (reward challenge from Aren’t Brochachos Just Adorable?): In this challenge, a member from each tribe would be strapped to a bag of coconuts and carried by the others. While racing to the beach, the person with the coconuts will go over an obstacle to get rings on a balance beam and then toss those rings onto pegs. Once the four rings are on the four pegs, they would win.

Ring Leader (immunity/only challenge from There’s Gonna be Tears Shed): In this challenge, players must swing a long pendulum through a frame around a statue. They cannot lose momentum or have their statue knock over. They also have to switch hands every 15 minutes. This challenge could be done while social distancing.

A Hand out (immunity challenge from So Smart They’re Dumb): In this challenge, contestants must balance a pole connected to water while standing on a perch where if they step off the perch or lose their bucket, they are out of the challenge. This could be done while social distancing.

Now should be the time that I put a Persian paragraph that I have written and translated via Google translate into this blog, but I haven’t had time for that even with this blog six days late. I can’t even promise that the next blog post of this blog will be on time either. Let’s just skip to the YouTube videos section of this blog post.

The last video that I’m including from The Odd Ones Out relating to Sooubway was Wrong Numbers. This was actually done before his fourth video on it as it mentions in the video. There isn’t much that I can say about that.

Now in honor of possibly the dumbest challenge in Survivor history, I’m sharing the song that the challenge was named after, Love on the Rocks by Neil Diamond. I like the song enough so that’s why I’m sharing it in this blog.

Most people have probably heard the song Jump by Van Halen as it is one of the most notable ones that I’m familiar with. I forget how old it is, but it seems good despite that. Some songs are timeless, much like that one NBC show.

Now there are a lot of Christmas songs to start sharing in this blog. Since Advent started on the Sunday before this episode aired, I considered it the start of the Christmas season and could have included this if the posts were done on time. Since there was a contestant on this season named Noelle and her name sounds like Noel, I’m sharing the Celtic Woman songs The First Noel and previous video leading into it, In the Bleak Midwinter from A Christmas Celebration version, the last concert featuring all of the original members of the group.

A lot of the seasonal songs that I’m sharing in this blog will not be returned to until that season is happening again. Since I had shared some Thomas the Tank Engine songs last year, I am now going to share one called Snow and get to the other one in the next post.

When I had posted about the season China earlier this year, I knew that I would have to cover the song You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. That’s because of a challenge link included in a post called With a 10 Foot Pole. While I posted that all the way back in January, it is nice to get back to something. Speaking of which, I need to do a set up for procrastination that I’ll get back to in the future.

While there are a lot of Christmas things that I could talk about, for now, the only one that I plan to share right now is one called Which Ween Costumes? This is based on a Halloween tradition that they didn’t do that year and wanted to do in a Christmas way.

Continuing on finally with more songs from The Nightmare before Christmas, I like to think of one that is perfect for snow on the ground in October. It’s called What’s This? It does make sense for someone to watch and see that doesn’t know about Christmas. Maybe they just came to life and doesn’t know about such things. Sometimes once you come to life, you don’t know nothing.

Let’s get to the football team updates. This features the teams of Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals. I plan to get to the end of these before this season is over. I’m almost done anyways.

Matchups: Bengals lost to Browns, Bengals beat Vikings, and Bengals beat Lions; Browns beat Bengals, Browns beat Vikings, and Browns beat Lions; Vikings lost to Bengals, Vikings lost to Browns, Vikings beat the Lions; Lions lost to Bengals, Lions lost to Browns, and Lions lost to Vikings. This makes the highest to lowest of these four teams Browns, Bengals, Vikings, and Lions.

The one last thing that I’m adding is that while I still plan to do the occasional watching of old Survivor episodes starting next year just to cover the other blogs needing changed with certain days of the week needing updated. I really want to get caught up on shows on tape and laptop with me wanting to see all of the shows from before the midterm elections or (with tapes at least) what I can get caught up with what I allow myself to (unless a lot more gets recorded, which may not happen given all of the family visits that prevent me from seeing as much as usual right now). But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, Sami talks about being left out of the vote. He admits this, but not in the smartest way (if there is one) to other players. Gabler talks about being in a good position. Owen talks about all of the votes he has now been left out of. But he’s not closest to the blindside without yet being the one blindsided. Sami reads his letter from home again. Karla is in a dangerous place since she has revealed her idol to Cassidy and wants to make things better with her.

In the second segment of the show, not much is happening when a random boat with a random person shows up with just one simple note, paraphrased thusly: there is an advantage in your jungle, go. And all hell breaks loose. They even look as a group the way that they would have in Vietnam during that war. Does no one know to look at where the cameras are pointing yet? Or are there too many of them? They need to stop, watch that sound, everybody look what’s going round. Cody is the one who finally identifies the object. He is able to win this if either he or the person he bets on wins the challenge and he knows that it will be Last Gasp. I couldn’t win this challenge. But I probably might have had a chance before I had covid. I’m not too worse after it, but there are some things I will never risk doing now.

In the third segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge. Now everyone knows what the challenge is. He now reveals the advantage of choosing your champion. He will get immunity if he bet on the right person and doesn’t win himself. It won’t be revealed who he bet on until after the votes are cast at tribal council. So it is like in Guatemala where there was an immunity twist during the episode with the double tribal council.

Has there ever been swells in this challenge before? I wonder if Cody would keep up appearances if it were just him and the person he bet on in the challenge. Besides, he could always ensure that he’s the only one with it if he wins. I have the feeling that I might be like Janu in this challenge minus the part where I quit later. Cody is out later after desperately trying to stay in. I think that the person he bet on is already out of the challenge. But we’ll find out.

How do people do this challenge? This and Waiting to Exhale are challenges that I just don’t think that I could do for long if at all. And I know that I would fail at Bugging Out if I were eating m & ms as I’m that slow an eater typically. Is this the longest this challenge has ever lasted? If high tide disappears, would they have to do something else? Ultimately, that is what happens when Karla and Owen outlast the challenge and get joint immunity. Sami talks about possibly playing the shot in the dark.

In the fourth segment of the show, Cassidy talks about being the target potentially. Karla sees no choice other than to turn on Cassidy to keep her idol secret and safe. Is there writing in black speech on it? Meanwhile, Jesse wants to vote out Sami. Jesse tells Owen this, but Owen wants to target Jess. Cody reveals to us that he bet on Owen so he’s safe. He has to make the right choice in the end.

In the fifth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. Jeff talks about how both of them had lasted the high tide and swells in the challenge. Jeff goes on talking about swells and the certainty of there being a high tide and a low tide. Nearly half of the group could be immune. No one knows how high or low the tide is going on. I got distracted a bit and missed some of what was talked about.

People want to talk about how much of a threat someone might be in the game. Some people don’t need their idols or advantages and can still win without them. Sami even admits that he will play his shot in the dark. I wonder now if people will think that he’s to blame and give love a bad name. Wait, that’s heart, not dark. A bill could be counterfeit. The votes are cast with Sami deciding whether or not to vote at all. He did play his shot in the dark. Sami is voted out and it doesn’t seem like anyone else got votes? Is that what we are to gather? Or do we not know that Karla voted against Cassidy?

On the next Survivor, there is a final four deal being made, Karla’s potential betrayal is brought up, and it is revealed that everyone voted for Sami in his final words. I can’t tell much else will be coming up in the penultimate episode of the season next week. But I look forward to it as always. I just hope that I’m not too tired with little to no chance to nap after work since I will have church then supper and only then the possibility for a nap briefly before this show starts. But only next week might be affected like this one was or would end up being potentially.

Total confessional count: Karla- 19, Gabler- 21, Owen- 24, Sami- 18, Jesse- 21, Cody- 22, Cassidy- 11. New confessionals this episode: Sami- 4, Jesse- 1, Cody- 2, Cassidy- 1, Karla- 2, Gabler- 1, Owen- 3.

This post was late again as there just wasn’t much time to do it. I could have worked on it more while watching shows on my laptop on Wednesday, but that didn’t happen this time around. I’ll explain more of what I did that in the next post. I can’t promise that it will be on Wednesday like it should be. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
