Episode 43.2

News that I found a bit surprising going into this season of TV relates to the show The Flash. Maybe I should not be too thrown off by this, but apparently that show will be airing its final season sometime this season. Why is that relevant to this blog? Well, I may give it priority against this show that no other show has ever had that aired against Survivor. I may watch it live instead of Survivor if the two shows wind up being on at the same time. I like giving final season shows priority at times and may wind up watching this show later and delaying the blog posts to later than Wednesday as a result.

Let’s get to the one time challenges from the twenty-eighth season. I am trying to get ahead of this part of the blog by writing it well in advance of the episode airing. I don’t want it to be like when I wanted to keep track of the seasons of Pearl Islands and Panama, found out that they had too many challenges that only appeared once, and not being able to get the post done on Wednesday like I should. Thus, I will not include thoughts on the challenges as I haven’t even researched them yet. It turns out that there was only one challenge this season that was only used once. This hasn’t happened since All-Stars.

Supertramp (reward challenge from Bag of Tricks): In this challenge, a member of each team must hook a rope to a box of sandbags to drop them, toss the sandbags to another then into a net tube, get the sandbags through the tubes, and then get them in five baskets. An individual version of this or one that does only parts of this could be done while social distancing.

Going back to the football teams and how they are ranked, I was breaking the tier two tie between the Buccaneers, Jaguars, and Texans. The Dolphins rank lowest among them. The Buccaneers lost to the Jaguars the second time and beat the Texans the second time. The Jaguars beat the Texans the second time and beat the Buccaneers the second time. The Texans lost to the Buccaneers the second time and lost to the Jaguars the second time. This makes the tier two rankings Jaguars 10, Buccaneers 11, Texans 12, and Dolphins 13.

Now there was some weirdness going on today. I took a way long nap and never got this written to the point that I would like before the episode started. But that’s okay since I did get it all done in time. I am hoping that things will get better. I was really tired and needed that sleep. We’ll see if I take off a day of work to deal with it. I’m hoping that I can do my planned weekend trip this time as sickness has at times prevented this. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, the yellow tribe returns from tribal council. Owen talks about getting votes. There is a terrible storm. This negatively affects Gabler who gets sick. People want to vote him out next. Meanwhile, the red tribe does things. Some want to target Cody. Lots of things happen on the red tribe. Some think that Justine is too weird.

In the second segment of the show, the blue tribe has its moments. Geo had a lot of problems because he was gay. His family abandoned him, leaving him homeless. He and Ryan have a budding friendship. They seem to be looking for food. Cody gets to know Noelle more. He talks about his friend who died of cancer. Owen gets water while talking about the rest of the tribe. Jeanine looks for an idol, but appears to have missed a note of some sort. She is working with Elie right now. Sami on the yellow tribe wants to do a man’s alliance even though he is against all one gender alliances. But his side has the numbers.

In the third segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge. But isn’t this a 90 episode? The yellow tribe comes in first. The blue tribe comes in second. The red tribe struggled too much throughout the challenge, missing at least one piece of the puzzle. Noelle wishes she could have competed in the challenge. She thinks that since Nneka struggled the most during it, she should be voted out.

In the fourth segment of the show, the red tribe talks about their loss. People want to vote out Nneka. They think that she is the best vote off choice. Nneka realizes that she is the target. Back on the yellow tribe, Jeanine talks about them winning fishing gear. People told Elie that she was dumb. She has ADHD. Is that a first? I don’t think that we have had that on the show before. She wants to teach Gabler how to use a Hawaiian swing.

The tribe wants to see what Gabler’s advantage is as they aren’t sure if his idol expires. They learn that it is after his next tribal council and not after just two tribal councils. The red tribe continues to talk and some of them bring up other names. Justine may not be trustworthy to others. Dwight cannot vote. Cody looks for an idol and can’t tell that something of some sort or another is important somehow. He does find a beware advantage. He takes it and now has to willing get all of the beads from all of the other players willing in order for his idol to have power and him to have a vote. Why would he do this? He could do this after tribal council. All of the personal bags have this.

In the fifth segment of the show, Cody gets some of the beads, but it doesn’t show if he has all of them yet or not. I wonder, is this going to happen on every tribe? What if someone on a tribe is voted out? He does manage to convince people that he needs it for a hat. Stick a bead in a hat and call it a ploy.

In the sixth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. But does Cody have a vote or not? I am lead to believe that he does not. Cody is wearing his hat and tells people that he is talking about mistakes. He is told to make a hat for Justine. She thinks that tonight’s going to be her last night. I guess unlike what they say in that one song, tonight’s not the night. But at least we don’t have to step on a bottle. Dwight tells people that he didn’t lose his vote. Jeff is constantly asked why people tell everyone everything. He says that it relates to gaining or trying to gain trust. Nneka talks some and says that an advantage could tie their hand. Cody is asked how this makes people feel about things like this. They have to set their emotions aside and play the game. The votes are cast and we go to commercial.

In the seventh segment of the show, it is revealed that Cody did get all of the beads and could vote at tribal council. Justine is the person who was voted out. But it wasn’t a two to two split. And someone had voted for Cody.

On the next Survivor, Gabler learns of people looking through his bag. Other things are going on as well. Something of some sort or another happened with Cody, I think. Something causes a person to run. I do not know what all is going on as it is easy to miss things in the promo.

Total confessional count: Jeanine- 2, Cody- 8, Justine- 2, Geo- 3, Lindsay- 3, Cassidy- 1, Karla- 4, Nneka- 3, Gabler- 7, James- 3, Owen- 8, Noelle- 3, Sami- 4, Jesse- 4, Ryan- 2, Dwight- 5, Elie- 7.

New confessionals this episode: James- 0, Owen- 3, Noelle- 2, Sami- 1, Jesse- 2, Ryan- 1, Dwight- 1, Elie- 2, Jeanine- 2, Cody- 3, Justine- 1, Geo- 1, Lindsay- 0, Cassidy- 0, Karla- 0, Nneka- 1, Gabler- 2.

I will say that as usual when it comes to the beginning of new seasons, I have no idea just who all that I missed in the confessional count (obviously), but know that I missed some for sure. I don’t have time today to get the next month’s planned blog post schedule up so hopefully that will happen in the next post. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Survivor 43 Premiere

While season 42 has yet to end as of the writing of this paragraph, I figured that I might as well get started on the next season’s first post and hopefully things will go well with it. I won’t mention too much else right now until more is learned. But I am going to write some of this post in advance and then get to the rest of this later.

Let’s get to one time challenges from the twenty-seventh season. This is the most recent season thus far to make use of Redemption Island. I feel that Redemption Island might be the best of the twists where they bring back players who were voted out (not counting returning players). But I’ll cover any of the challenges from this season that only appeared once.

Buoy Oh Buoy (tribal challenge from One-Man Wrecking Ball): In this challenge, contestants would have to swim out to where floating gates are. Once there, they would release a fish trap with puzzle pieces inside. These traps would be taken back to the main platform. Once all four traps are gathered, the puzzle would then have to be solved. I think that if this were done individually instead of in pairs, this could be done while social distancing.

Build a Fire (Redemption Island duel from Swoop in for the Kill): In this challenge, contestants must simply cut a rope to release puzzle pieces and solve a puzzle to win. It could easily be done while social distancing. There have been challenges like this in the past.

While I stopped sharing Russian status updates on facebook a long time ago, I may repost here all of what I did at some point. In the meantime, there were some Russian paragraphs that I was wanting to do and take care of at some point in time. I’m going to put some of them here, if not the rest of them, in this season’s posts. Then at some point, potentially during a season, I’m going to consider Russia to be cancelled and use the language Persian instead. Enjoy the one meant for multiple blogs first.

Let’s get to the tier two of football teams that I root for and their official ranking. There were some disasters in 2017 that affected where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, and Miami Dolphins play. I call these four teams the hurricane teams. Now when it comes to how they rank against each other, let’s get to the match ups of the teams against each other.

Starting the with Buccaneers, they would beat the Jaguars, beat the Dolphins, and lost to the Texans giving them 2 wins and 1 loss. The Jaguars lost to the Buccaneers, beat the Texans, and beat the Dolphins, also giving them 2 wins and 1 loss. The Dolphins lost to the Buccaneers, lost to the Jaguars, and lost to the Texans, giving them 0 wins and 3 losses. As for the Texans, they beat the Buccaneers, lost to the Jaguars, and beat the Dolphins, also giving them 2 wins and 1 loss. That’s a lot of ties that will need broken going into the next post. I just hope that I don’t run out of time for it and a lot of things. I am going to try better to have everything before the recap written before the episode airs and I write it meaning that I won’t have to worry about writing much before it is over.

If you remember the post that I did in the past on the Survivor 42 finale, it mentioned a challenge that linked into the AC/DC song, It’s a Long Way to the Top (if you Want to Rock and Roll). I feel that I might as well share that song right now.

There was still some work that I was wanting to cover regarding missionaries. I might want to share one in every single season that I write about now, be it a new season or an old one. I’m sharing this rather long missionary video that I have described as an interview with the Burches. Enjoy it and support their work if you can.

I recently started watching the videos of Dr. Mike on YouTube. He is awesome. He recently did a video on Survivor and some of the medical emergencies that appeared on the show. It only seems appropriate to share that video now in this post.

Now I was going to do a post about Survivor 42 Ponderosa which seemed not to air because of what seemed to be a bullying incident. But the one source that seemed to back this up didn’t mention any of what was said to be there. Omar made it sound like he needed therapy because of false accusations made against him at Ponderosa. I listened to his interview on Rob Has a Podcast which was said to have included this claim by him, but it didn’t. It is still the best explanation for why it was never released. But I don’t understand what might have happened for sure since there is no link that talks about it that I can find. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, we are introduced to some of the contestants, such as paraolympian athlete Noelle. Elie says that as a psychologist, she gets people to do things that they don’t want to do. How does that make you feel? Anyways, the players gather. Noelle talks about applying for Survivor, losing her leg, and still wanting to do Survivor. If she lost her leg when she was 19, how old is she now and just how long has she been applying? The answer: potentially coming next post. Anyways, I missed a lot of the challenge as I was getting supper ready, but I was able to learn that the red tribe won. I know that tribes have names, but I’m just going to call them by their colors in new seasons since I just don’t care enough. If you want me to change, send a tweet to @IamAdamDecker and hopefully I’ll see it.

In the second segment of the show, the red tribe is taken by a random boatman to their camp. They don’t have to row themselves there? And what’s the point of the map? Dwight wants to do the shelter and over Survivor things. At least he isn’t looking for an idol yet. Dwight is already worried about how he will look back at home. Anyways, is it the pandemic that forces them to have boatmen or what? It seems kind of unfair for all the old players who had to row themselves to camp.

The yellow tribe chooses savvy as their punishment and learns that they have to form that largest whole number by moving two bones, but can only do this once. The blue tribe chooses sweat and they get their supplies rather quickly. The yellow tribe figures out the trick of the challenge and they get the answer correct. Like the UK show Taskmaster, you have to now wonder when Survivor is tricking you.

In the third segment of the show, Cody, Nneka, and Jesse form an alliance with Cody not being honest about his profession. How many contestants have lied about their profession on the show? And why don’t they promote people’s names better, especially in the season premiere? As usual, I miss a lot of who did what confessionals. Cody is a salesman. He says that he works for an elevator company. Jesse also wants to form an alliance with other members as well. Has that happened before? You’d think that it would have, but I’m just not sure it has in 43 seasons of Survivor.

On the yellow tribe, Elie leads the women in forming an alliance. Lindsay leads the same thing on the blue tribe while also adding a needed fourth member: James. He thinks that this might mean he is being played. Did they really all come to him separately? That’s dumb.

In the fourth segment of the show, Sami wants to show people that he can make fire and he does. He cremates pets for a living. You will not believe how big a business that is. Geo and Karla bond and form a Latinx LGBT alliance of two according to him. But Karla has an alliance already. If I had to guess, this is bad news for the remaining man on the tribe. I don’t remember his name yet. Jesse talks about how he used to be in a gang, but removed his tattoo from the gang. Which one is three dots? I have no idea and might be better off not knowing. The red tribe makes fire right before a boat shows up. Boats. Boats. Boats boats boats. Wait. What was this commercial about again?

In the fifth segment of the show, a player from each tribe gets on a boat and is taken to a summit, perhaps? Gabler, Dwight, and Karla are the players. I think that all of them are picked by random draw. They have to go to a big rock. It wasn’t a rock. It was a- ROCK LOBSTER! This summit has people picking whether to risk their vote. Karla doesn’t risk it. The men do. One will lose their vote and the other will get an advantage. But who gets what?

In the sixth segment of the show, the red tribe does get fire for real this time. Dwight tells the truth of what happened to his tribe. Gabler does the same thing. Gabler got the advantage, which is an idol. He tells his tribe about it. It is only good for his first two tribal councils. He could give a dead idol to Dwight in order to “garner trust” in the future. Or, he might use it.

In the seventh segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge. I’m still eating supper since there is a lot of food to eat this time which takes away a lot of time for other things. I take this chance to focus on eating and hopefully finish it or get further into it than I have otherwise. This challenge does have a twist that the first tribe to get to The Equalizer: Sundays at 8/7 Central on CBS unless delayed due to football, I mean, the table games, gets their pick of which of the three games they get with the second tribe getting the next pick and the last tribe being stuck with what is left.

Let’s skip to that part of the challenge. The blue tribe picks the maze as they think that it will be the easiest. That was number 3. The red tribe picks number 2, the straight shot. The yellow tribe is forced to go with the obstacle. The blue tribe picked correctly and comes in first. The red tribe comes in second with the yellow tribe struggling. Could they not switch out players? Sami thinks that the game starts now. It is no longer Kumbya.

In the eighth segment of the show, Gabler thinks that since he was part of the loss, he would be a target. He openly says that he is playing the shot in the dark instead of playing his idol. But people don’t want to vote him out. Morriah is a target. So is Owen. Can someone play a shot in the dark and then play an idol instead? I don’t think that we know for sure. Can the woman alliance stick together? Do they ever? I mean, outside of the Black Widow Brigade?

In the ninth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. The life at camp was a joy. They thought that they were the final six. No six before marriage. Jeff thinks that they were waiting too late in order to make strategy. They did try their best. Are they dolls? Dolls try to do their best. Gabler and Sami both lost their tribe the challenge. Is this why they make only certain people do the task at the end? So there will always be an escape goat? Morriah thinks that she has made what she has needed to in this game. Jeff thinks that he can feel the tension. Maybe he needs a massage? In the end, it turns out that no one played any advantage or idol. Morriah is voted out.

On the next Survivor, there is a storm that is bad, there is still a girl’s alliance on one tribe at least, maybe, we’ll see, more things are happening at the summit, and other things that I didn’t quite catch or know how to summarize.

Total confessional count: Cody- 5, Justine- 1, Geo- 2, Lindsay- 3, Cassidy- 1, Karla- 4, Nneka- 2, Gabler- 5, James- 3, Owen- 5, Noelle- 1, Sami- 3, Jesse- 2, Ryan- 1, Dwight- 4, Elie- 5, Morriah- 2, Jeanine- 0.

After this episode was done airing, I still had a long time finishing supper. A storm happened which did not affect too much at first, but did mean that I wasn’t going to finish the movie I was watching that night. But then the power went out even later and didn’t come back on. While I do have battery powered wifi for a while after a power outage and I have a laptop with some battery life, I can’t rely on either of them during a power outage and decided it was best to just turn off the laptop.

Now that you know why the blog post is late, I’m going to have to do a set up to the new schedule of the planned blog posts for October. I swear that I will get to November’s planned blog posts in the next update. Know that this also means that any posts on China and Blood versus Water are now certain not to happen until after I’m done blogging about this season. The only old season that you will see any possible updates on now as long as Survivor 43 is still on is Borneo. Also note that it might be awhile until the next post only because I don’t know if there will be a new episode of this show on Wednesday and if there is not, I’ll have to wait until the next episode airs to blog about it. Regardless of when it airs, I’ll be back then (hopefully) with a new blog post. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode 1.4b

With tomorrow being the start of Survivor’s poorly promoted new season (why have they not been focusing on the new cast at all?), you might wonder whether or not I’ll have any blog posts done on any old seasons during the airing of Survivor 43. I honestly don’t know. I’ve only been watching more of shows and actually rolling for things instead of being stuck with choices and only occasionally cheating to watch a Survivor season so I can watch and finish something on the list which happens to have this choice as well on it. I can only hope that I can roll the last choice on it sooner rather than later.

I have wanted some things to affect my other blogs so I might do that more often than possible. I like to rig the rolls as that means being in control. In fact, that last legit roll has lead to the other rig rolls that have happened to even out the mess that was made by fate.

Movie update: On Saturday, I watched Decker Family DVD. I replaced it with The Aristocats. On Sunday afternoon, I watched Bend it Like Beckham. I replaced it with Baby Boom. On Sunday night, I did not watch a movie from my list, instead watching a movie that wasn’t on it. On Monday, I watched The Fugitive. I replaced it with Johnny English. On Tuesday, I did not watch a movie. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon, I was too busy with family visits to watch any movies, even if I didn’t leave until after Friday. I also didn’t watch any of Sunday night movies due to the exhausting trip I was just on and there being other random things going on as well that took up time.

On Monday, I watched The Bourne Legacy. I replaced that with American Dreamz. On Tuesday, I saw Pot O’ Gold. I replaced that with The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. On Friday, I watched Minions. I replaced that with Jason Bourne. On Saturday, I watched a movie that wasn’t on my list of things to watch. On Sunday afternoon, I watched nothing as I had different plans for lunch. I was busy seeing the returning fall shows of primetime on Sunday night to watch any movie then. On that next Monday, I did not watch a movie so I could see more shows on my laptop. I’m still behind on stuff from April and it is now September when I’m finally set to record more on it.

On Tuesday, I watched Celtic Woman: Believe. I replaced that with Celtic Woman: Destiny. On Friday, I watched… well, you’ll have to see later because I may have time to watch something in addition to the episode of Survivor that I’m watching. But I guess you’ll have to see in the next post on this season.

I decided to watch this episode on Friday, 9-16-2022. You might wonder how this affects things. Well, since The Good Wife blog of mine is no longer on Fridays leaving the blogs of mine effectively blank then, it could then become a weekly updateable day of the week for my TV blog. And now it will be. I will thus not be able to publish any posts of this blog on Friday and that is when I blog about Survivor: China. I won’t be able to even if the post is written. If things go according to plan, that day of the week won’t be open to this blog for the rest of the year and that would include possibly delayed posts of any current season of this blog as well. I’ll get to explaining more about when or if there might be updates in current season’s posts or this season.

We begin with people on Pagong talking about the miserable storm that they suffered through. The shelter was not practical and was left wet and a mess with different things they needed away from where they need to be. The tribe then moves to another place. Greg weirds his tribe out by speaking into what he calls a nature phone. Just to be clear, he knows it isn’t a real phone.

Back at Tagi, Sue is upset that something is all woody. If she thinks that she’s upset now, just wait until she plays a second time. Sean wants to build a bowling alley. Sue thinks that it is a waste of time. She thinks that he should spend time on more important things like looking for tapioca. Why is she so obsessed with tapioca anyways?

The two tribes learn about what they are going to compete with later in preparation for the reward challenge where they add some rewards as well. Both tribes want to add elements of sex to their distress signal. Pagong members want to walk around naked while Tagi wants to use condoms. Richard wants to make alliances at this point. The people on Pagong think that Ramona is too lazy. How long is this challenge anyways? It seems to take longer than it should. Ramona does help at some point.

Jeff gets on a plane and he mentions what is at stake and who gets it all potentially. In the end, neither tribe goes naked. Some people may be disappointed by that, but not me. Tagi has bodies moving in motion while Pagong doesn’t do that badly, but bad enough to lose. But they have to make the Tagi tribe work hard to get their reward by going out to sea to get it.

Richard forms his alliance and it is him, Kelly, and Sue at first. They talk about adding Rudy, but he is a bit reluctant to do it at first. On Pagong, Ramona is trying harder to fit in the tribe, but most people think that it is too late, hence the name of the episode.

At the immunity challenge, there is a relay. Jeff explains how the challenge is to be done. The members of the tribes go out to do their tasks. Tagi leads throughout most of the challenge. It seems that Tagi does poorly at one point, but due to Gervase taking way too long on his task, Pagong had no chance at winning this challenge this time.

After the challenge, Gervase talks about how voting off someone is the most difficult part. And here I was thinking that the waiting was the hardest part. Greg compares voting someone out to the board game of Sorry where one has to make moves that hurt the other players.

We get to tribal council next. Jeff says that it is hard to vote a member out. Voting out is hard to do. It is Ramona who first talks about how nobody sucks on their tribe and how they all like each other. Jeff asks who feels confident about surviving the vote. Gervase says that he feels good about sticking around. Jeff says that he shouldn’t feel that way. Gervase then admits to feeling vulnerable which gets the others on his tribe to laugh. Jenna says that she hates to vote out a person from the tribe. When it comes to how the votes are cast, Ramona and Gervase vote for Colleen, Greg votes for Jenna, and the rest of the tribe members of Jenna, Colleen, Gretchen, and Joel all vote for Ramona. Ramona. Ramona. My my my. It is thus Ramona that gets voted out of the game.

On the next Survivor, Sue thinks that her tribe members are wasting time fishing since they didn’t catch anything. Colleen and Greg are having all the sex. A bunch of stuff happens and do dew da dee. Never fear. We’ll have stories for years.

Total confessional count: Ramona- 11, Gervase- 18, Greg- 10, Gretchen- 12, Sean- 10, Rudy- 9, Kelly- 11, Richard- 22, Sue- 11, Colleen- 10, Jenna- 9, Joel- 6, Dirk- 7.

New confessionals this episode: Gervase- 8, Greg- 5, Gretchen- 3, Sean- 2, Rudy- 1, Kelly- 2, Richard- 7, Sue- 4, Colleen- 5, Jenna- 3, Joel- 2, Dirk- 3, Ramona- 5.

When it comes to Ramona’s chances of playing the game again, I don’t think that she has much of one. She could return, but I doubt that she would want to. That’s just a guess so it is hard to know for sure. I give her about a 30% chance of returning to the game again.

I’ll try to get to any revised schedules if I can unless the next month has started. I don’t yet know just how far I might go into posting about the future as I won’t know when my church might do Advent services this year. I thus don’t know if I will have to delay watching Survivor until the next day after it airs or if I can get it done on time due to an earlier service being available to go to. I will say for sure that if I’m still blogging about CSI: Vegas, I am likely to delay those posts until Sundays. I’ll be back tomorrow with a post on the newest Survivor episode. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

The Modern Flashy Tribal Councils

I thought that my last random post before the new season of Survivor started would be different, but I’ll get to why I won’t be writing that in the next blog post on the new Survivor season. This, will instead, be my last post before the next season starts. There’s a lot more that I could have written, but it turns out that I had more time to write about old seasons towards the end anyways.

Now let’s get to what this post is about. It seems like while a lot of earlier Survivor seasons have been not as interesting with some of their tribal councils and things starting to change and become more and more interesting with the introduction of hidden immunity idols and then other advantages, there is a lot that can be said about the modern tribal council and it sure is flashy.

There are pros and cons about this. Let’s get the good stuff out of the way first. It can seem good that we can get entertaining tribal councils the likes of which we could only dream about at the start of the existence of Survivor. If you put nearly any tribal council of today with the very first one, you will almost always find the first one to just be boring and dull compared to what you get today.

Of course, there can be more issues with the flashy tribal councils of today, the cons. There are so many advantages in addition to lots of idols and other issues like it that they are always too focused on what will make a good tribal council or, at least, a flashy one. Contestants failing to keep secrets can be quite a huge issue which makes tribal council sometimes two whole segments when we used to never get a whole segment dedicated to this. And they make it so that this is more like every tribal council and there can’t be any obvious vote outs without some drama being included.

I can’t think of much else to say. I will be ending this post here with a lot to look forward to in the future. I can only hope that we get to a good season ahead of us in the future. I do know why it seems likely that there will be a gap of a week off in the future. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Survivor: China episode 12: Going for the Oscar ®

I’ll admit that one thing that I’m more than annoyed by so far this season is my annoyances at Todd and his edit. For the winner of this season, it seems odd that he is being portrayed in such a negative way so much. I plan to write a post about the edits of Survivor winners (maybe even an analysis on all of them, paragraph by paragraph) so I could discuss that more there.

Let’s get to the idols from Winners at War part 7. With this idol, Tony found it and played it, negating no votes, but making him immune from another round of voting after a null vote. It is nice that such a protection is offered so idols aren’t always a waste in the event that it wasn’t exactly used properly. It can protect people from rock draws as well.

Let’s get to more challenge links. This time, the choices of letters to use next were either Q or S. The choice that I rolled this time was the letter q. It did not link up with anything this time like other letters have so I will cover the letter s, the other potential choice that could have been rolled, in the next blog post on this season at hand.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Quest_for_Fire

This challenge is also known as bridging the gap, trail blazer, and outrigger fire quest. It is known for being the first challenge ever used on the show. In it, basically, the tribes have to light all of the fire that they need to while keeping their hands on a raft or whatever at all times. Since it relies on people being too close to each other, it cannot be done while social distancing. This was once combined with the already covered jail break challenge.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Q_and_A_(challenge)

This challenge is also known as face off, voo doo, getting smashed q & a, body slam, Jala-Powed, and touchy subjects. Touchy subjects was the main name of this at some point. In it, contestants would fill out a questionnaire about their tribe members, the results would be tallied, and the challenge would begin with the players then trying to guess the most picked option in order to get a point. When it was played the first time, the first person to get 5 points correct was the winner. Most other versions had players taking turns trying to eliminate other players where three hits made one out. This could easily be done while social distancing)

In this Good Wife blog post of mine, I talk about not realizing that there would have been a hiatus due to the Olympics back in 2014 and potential hiatus of this show. I talk some about Zach on the show and he was largely written out without me realizing it somehow. I made a joke about not resolving things. I also mention how Lucca was the name of Cush Jumbo’s character on the show. A weird thing about this was delays on some affiliates, but not others. It was either 0 minutes or 7 minutes. That might affect this blog on Survivor or other blogs of mine by doing an update and then scheduling another exactly 7 minutes later. I would have explained in my Madam Secretary blog why this was.

There are two notable good songs that this one band did called V52. Well, I think that was the band name, although I’m not as sure if this song is as good as I once thought it was. This version wasn’t as good as I remember. Anyways, today’s animal song is called Rock Lobster.

I’m also sharing a song by Led Zeppelin called Ramble On. I do have to like the number one band that is named after a dirigible. (Credit for this joke goes to The Late Show with David Letterman.) And I felt that the song was good.

There’s also a well known Christian children’s song called Rise and Shine that is similar to the name of a challenge that was covered in the previous post of this season. I know that post might be hard to recall offhand since it was posted all the way back in March, I believe.

At the beginning of this post, I mentioned who will win this season. This makes me want to talk some about why I include spoilers of seasons I’m writing about. Well, the main reason is that it has already aired and the information is already out there. I would say to let me know if I shouldn’t do this, but I blocked comments in this blog since spammers ruined this for others.

There have been changes on the list of things that I watch. Since I cover my second list of things in this season’s posts, here is what I want you to know. I finished watching Living Edens and replaced that with Invader Zim from the third list of things that I have to watch. This does not change where Survivor: China is on this list.

It was on Friday, 8-26-2022 that I decided to watch this Survivor episode so I could get it done since it has been a while and I finally had the chance since even when I was finally caught up to the point of being able to watch shows and was blocked into watching others on this list at first.

We begin with the tribe returning back from tribal council and how they pulled off the blindside there at tribal council. Peih-Gee is trying to work on infiltrating the other alliance since them voting off James means that they could continue to turn on each other.

The next day, Todd talks about missing home this close to the end as it rains. He talks about his alliance of four and why he actually thinks that they should vote him out. He is cocky alright. But he is also right somehow. We then get people together for the reward challenge. It is revealed to be a loved ones challenge. Todd learns from his sister that comes that his other one suffered a miscarriage. Courtney apologizes to her loved one that they have to compete together in the challenge. In the weirdish challenge, it is Denise and her loved one who win. She brings Todd and then Amanda to join in the reward with her. The contestants and their loved ones then go on reward and then the loved ones will spend a night at camp.

Denise and the others go on reward. She thinks that it is nice that her husband flew here since he is afraid of flying. Denise then gets a phone call from her daughter. Back at camp, Peih-Gee is upset that she wasn’t picked on the reward as she picked Denise for the reward earlier. She wonders why Amanda was picked. Meanwhile, the three of them all think that Todd was lying with Courtney thinking that he was going for the Oscar ®. They get more upset with the people return with their loved ones. Todd learns that the miscarriage occurred shortly after he left at around just two months of pregnancy.

The next day, the loved ones leave. Todd isn’t sure that he can trust people. He also doesn’t yet know that people thought that he was pulling a Johnny Fairplay. Denise explains afterwards why she picked Amanda and there are sort of amends made. Peih-Gee is convinced as usual that she needs to win the challenge in order to stay in the game.

We get to the immunity challenge. The people have to unspool around things, answer true or false questions about China, and have to get three of them right to win the challenge. Amanda has her bottom keep falling off. Just how badly will her mother kill her? Peih-Gee wins the challenge.

Peih-Gee is emotional over winning the challenge later. She is exhausted in many ways. Todd thinks that people will stick with the alliance and vote out Erik. Peih-Gee tries to convince Denise to vote with them in the end so that she can get to top three. Otherwise, they think she will be fourth. Todd is even being honest to Peih-Gee about his plan. Denise isn’t sure what to do as what could happen could, in her mind, be a million dollar signature.

At tribal council, Amanda feels that she knows Denise is a different way. Denise is shown having a good life. She is worried that people won’t go against her in the finals. Jeff then says that it was either Erik or Peih-Gee who was in danger of getting voted out in the last few tribal councils. It hadn’t happened just yet. Peih-Gee thinks that some ambiguity is going on. Denise wants to trust people. Todd says that he trusts people, but isn’t sure by how much. Overall, it’s a very boring tribal council.

Once the votes are cast, it is Erik and Peih-Gee who vote against Todd while Denise, Amanda, Courtney, and Todd all vote against Erik. It is Erik who is voted out of the game. Denise thinks in her confessional that this vote could be her biggest mistake in the game. We’ll never know for sure, but she would come in fourth where she could have potentially made the final tribal council with the others. Of course, if it did come to a rock draw, there was a one in three chance that she would have to draw the rock and be voted out that night. Of course, with Peih-Gee having immunity and a tie would have given Erik the same thing, she is the only one who would have had something to lose by switching allies. I personally don’t think that Denise could have won with anyone at this point.

On the next Survivor, Amanda targets Todd while Todd fights back. Alliances are crumbling. It is hard to tell what would have happened without me already knowing. But I feel like the editors of this show like to mislead us far too often. How often is someone shown in danger of getting voted out and actually do get voted out of the game?

Total confessional count: Peih-Gee- 29, Denise- 20, Erik- 18, Amanda- 19, Courtney- 22, Todd- 43. New confessionals this episode: Denise- 2, Erik- 0, Amanda- 0, Courtney- 1, Todd- 5, Peih-Gee- 5.

What are Erik’s chances of returning to the game again? I’m not sure. He is more of an obscure player since you can’t really say much about him. Indeed, he didn’t even have a confessional in the episode where he is eliminated, a rarity among Survivor players, including quitters. I think that he was a good player and could return, even if I think that there were no offers of him being asked to play again. I give him about a 51% chance of playing the game again.

I have no idea just how much else I can get done in terms of blogging. I should have more written in advance of it needing to be updated than I do. I used to be really good at this, but not anymore. I don’t have as much time for anything, but at least I have a full time job. There is something I’m wanting to do if I have time for it before the new season starts. I just need a few hours to listen to a podcast that I would share for a random post that relates to this blog. Let’s hope it gets done. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
