Survivor All Runners-up

Let's face it. A lot of people came to play Survivor and a lot of them became the runner-up. With the final three becoming common, the third place person can also be the runner-up, commonly referred to now as second runner-up. Since people can get the same number of votes at the final tribal and not win the game, people can tie for second place. In fact, second is the most common place to come in when one plays Survivor. I am not a big fan of returning players, but if they have to do it, they can always bring back contestants tied for second in a single season and have them play the game again. So far, the returning players if they did that would be Dreamz and Cassandra (Fiji), Michael and Lisa (Philippines), as well as Dawn and Sherri (Caramoan). But I will talk about all the runner-ups from every season so far and list my thoughts on whether or not they will play again.

Kelly was a strong competitor in the first season. Like many contestants afterwards, she won a lot of immunity challenges and avoided getting voted out. Her name was never written down. She had original said that she would never doing this sort of thing when she became the only runner-up or finalist for that matter, to get an exit confessional. One wonders if her mind has ever changed yet if they even bothered to ask her back. She is the only final four member of Borneo to not return to another season. The next runner-up was Colby, who I imagine would probably come back, although he's not as great as he once was. The next runner-up is the only person in Survivor: Africa's final four who never returned for another season. I like that season a lot, but from what I understand, every player from that season who they wanted to return already has. So I'm not sure that Kim Johnson would be the best returning player, although I don't know why she'd refuse a chance to return either. The next runner-up was Neleh who was supposedly cut from All-Stars. I'm pretty sure she could be a great player again. The next runner-up was Clay from one of the most well hated seasons of Survivor. I don't know if he'd ever return or not, but I'd say probably not because of that reason. Matthew was the first runner-up to receive only one vote from the jury. He might play again and he might not. I don't know. The next runner-up is Lillian. She is the only runner-up or even finalist for that matter to play less than 39 days. I think that she should return, although many people didn't like her that much. (Just because you don't like a player doesn't mean that you think they shouldn't return. I don't like Colton, but a medically evacuated player always deserves a second chance in my opinion.) But I think that if they'd ask her back, then she'd come back. The next runner-up is a bit hard to classify. He's played four times and won the game once. I'd have to say that Boston Rob wouldn't be a good player for this type of season in my mind.

The ninth season had Twila as a runner-up. She was cut from Heroes versus Villains for reasons unknown (did they not know which tribe to put her on?) so I'd say that means she has a good chance of coming back provided she still wants to come back. I heard she was also cut from Micronesia as well. The next runner-up was Katie who was pretty much a goat brought to the end for someone else to win in the minds of many. She might have been asked back, but she still hasn't returned. I heard that she got a horrible sickness due to her time on Survivor, but she is still alive and well to my knowledge if she wanted to return. The next runner-up was Stephenie, and I'd imagine she'd come back if she were able to. The next runner-up was Danielle and she's already returned once so she might appear again.

This comes the point where the runner-ups change in a way. There are now two for every season except two. Only one of the second runner-ups got a jury vote to win because the other two are tied for second runner-up with one jury vote each. But let's start with Becky. Becky was the first finalist to receive no jury votes as well as the first third place person to be a finalist. She, like all finalists with no jury votes, might have some resentment regarding the game and might not want to return because if it, but I have the feeling that she could just like anyone else. Ozzy is the more notable player and could have won the game if it had seven members and he still got four jury votes. But regardless of the fact that he said he wouldn't play after South Pacific, I'd imagine he could come back to prove that he is still a dominate player. I mean, he could have won South Pacific if he was better at the final immunity challenge. The next two people are the show's first ever tied runner-ups. They both got zero jury votes because they were well hated by every player on the jury. Dreamz made an infamous deal which is probably why the car challenge no longer appears. Cassandra was pretty much forgettable so I'm not sure if she'll reappear either. And yet, I keep suggesting them in this blog for some odd reason. The next runner-up was Amanda who would probably reappear as she is one of the best players and first to get to day 39 twice. I also think that Courtney would return as any returning player once could return again.

As I stated before Amanda would probably return to play again. The next season had Sugar who is the only finalist with no votes against her and no votes to win. I think it is just as likely that she will return as it is that she will never return. Susie was a pretty annoying finalist, but that doesn't mean she won't return. Stephen is really into the show and despite being the only runner-up in a final two to get no jury votes, I'll imagine he could come back.

Mick could have done better in Samoa and I see no reason why he wouldn't return. Russell is the only two time runner-up who didn't receive jury votes to win both times. He has quite possibly the worst social game of any player, or at least any player who made it far. His family is supposedly banned from CBS, but I'm not sure if I believe that for sure. I think that he won't return regardless. And while Parvati may be a runner-up, like I said with Boston Rob, since she is also a winner, it doesn't seem fair to include her. Sash cause an unaired and mostly unknown controversy, so he won't be back any time soon. Chase is probably too busy with his music career to return to play Survivor. Natalie was more of a coattail rider, but she could still return to the game. Phillip is always entertaining and definitely should return and probably will if given the chance. Albert could return even though he didn't do much. Coach is probably eagerly waiting yet another chance at the game. Chelsea was pretty blah when it came to being a contestant and Sabrina was pretty much the same way. But once again, I'm not certain that would prevent them from playing again. Lisa and Michael were great players and both should totally play again. Sherri was a goat and Dawn should have gotten some votes, but didn't.

So I will now mention all of the people who become runners-up and the chances that they return for a season like this. Kelly- probably no, Colby- yes, Kim J- maybe, Neleh- yes, Clay- no, Matthew- yes, Lillian- maybe, Boston Rob- no, Twila- yes, Katie- probably yes, Stephenie- yes, Danielle- yes, Becky- maybe, Ozzy- yes, Dreamz- probably no, Cassandra- probably no, Amanda- yes, Courtney- yes, Sugar- probably yes, Susie- maybe, Stephen- yes, Mick- yes, Russell- probably no, Parvati- no, Sash- probably no, Chase- no, Natalie- maybe, Phillip- yes, Albert- maybe, Coach- yes, Chelsea- maybe, Sabrina- maybe, Lisa- yes, Michael- yes, Sherri- no, Dawn- yes.

There needs to be at least eight men returning for the season for it to work and they are Colby, Matthew, Ozzy, Stephen, Mick, Phillip, Coach, and Michael. The eight women who would return are Neleh, Twila, Stephenie, Danielle, Amanda, Courtney, Lisa, and Dawn. (I'm excluding Katie and Sugar simply because there are already enough without them).

I hope that you enjoyed this blog post. I am nearing the end of these random blog posts for the moment. I mean, the 28th season finished filming soon (I think) and the 27th will start airing soon. When it does, I'll go back to more regular blog posts. I'm still hoping there will be a blog post about a cast assessment of the season and possibly a post about Survivor contestants playing Big Brother because there is a rumor of a Big Brother winner being on the upcoming season of Survivor.
