Team Borneo

Just a quick note about this blog post before I get to the rest of it: everything except this first paragraph that you are currently reading was written before the idea for Survivor 31 was announced. That won’t change the rest of this post in any way. But that may explain the reasoning for some of my choices in this post. I was going with what I thought would happen at the name. I’m glad that unlike my planned post of Blood versus Water, nobody returning will miss up my old choices. I wasn’t expecting Kelly from the first season to ever play again, although I’m glad that she is. Now back to the regularly scheduled blog post.

There is an idea for a twist that I know will probably never happen since I’m posting it here. The idea would be for a new season with a strange starting twist. There would be two tribes of new players, each with three men and three women on each tribe. Then, there would be another tribe of returning players, all from the same season, that would also be split into a tribe of three men and three women. This would lead to eighteen players total in a fresh idea for a season. The people from the season would all be determined some way and they would be called team x, for lack of a better name. I decided on the name team Borneo to decide which three players would come from Borneo. The location for the season could be Borneo, but they would probably want to play somewhere else. I suggest Burma as the location for the season in question. Now when it comes to picking three men and three women from the first season to play again, then you have to know the rules of how to pick them.

Rules: 1- Whenever possible, every starting tribe must be represented by a player of both genders. 2- You cannot choose someone who has already become a returning player. 3- Only choose people that would probably return and avoid any and all people that you probably know won’t return or can’t return. 4- Three men and three women are needed for this season to work. 5- They must have all played the same season in order for the twist to work.

When I thought about doing this twist, I thought of who wouldn’t work. And, using this method, I ended up with the exact people that I would probably need. I can’t choose Richard, Rudy, Sue, Jenna, or Gervase since they have already played the game again. Obviously, B. B. can’t play again since he’s dead. They more than likely wouldn’t choose Stacey to ever play again since she sued the show. Colleen, Greg, and Kelly are all great players, but none of them seem likely to play again since most of them said that they don’t want to. This then leaves the six players that I need. And, there happens to be a man and woman from all three tribes. They may not have made it that far in the game nor may they be the best choices out of all the players from this season, but they’re the ones that I want. I will explain why shortly. The members of the team are Sonja, Ramona, Gretchen, Dirk, Joel, and Sean.

Sonja was the first person voted out of Survivor. As far as I know, she retains good health and could play Survivor again, even if she is old. Ramona may not have done as well the first time, but she’s probably waiting for a second chance at the game, more so than other contestants would. That would help since she waited too long to adjust to the game, since she’d probably want to redeem herself. Gretchen would probably love to play again. Many people have wanted her to return since she was eliminated in such a strange way. I don’t know if they’ll ever do a Second Chances season (yes, we have had returning players, but nothing close to what some would call a second chances season), but she would be nice either way. With the possible exception of Greg, she was the biggest threat on the Pagong tribe.

Dirk was the first religiously Christian contestant on the show. He was very memorable in my mind and only got voted out because there was an alliance and he wasn’t in it. I can see him returning to the show as part of this team. Joel may not have been the most interesting contestant, but he would probably work well in this team. Then there’s Sean, who has does some acting on a soap opera. He was actually a better player than some people would have you believe. I could see him returning. Plus, I need someone on this list who actually made it pretty far.

There’s my team. I would explain why I’m not choosing the other ten contestants from the season, but I don’t think that I have to. From this point forward, I’ll probably want every contestant from the first season back again, except for three. Obviously, B. B. can’t play again so I don’t know why anyone would choose him anymore. There is no way they are ever bring Stacey back since she sued the show. And I don’t think that Sue, who quit the second time, is ever coming back a third time. I will now list reasons as to why each player should play again, even if they probably won’t come back anyways. I will then list different ways that they could return to the game, based on themes that have already been used or could easily be used if it hasn’t already. Also, I should note that the addicted to Survivor group on facebook is where I got the ideas for who would be on what collar tribe.

Sonja deserves to come back since she was the first boot and could do better a second time. Ramona deserves to come back since she would be better at adapting to the game the second time. Dirk deserves to come back since he was a great player that only fell short because he wasn’t in an alliance. Joel deserves to come back since he could prove himself a better player the next time. Gretchen deserves to come back since she was a powerful player and threat to win the game. Greg deserves to come back since he was an entertaining player and adds a lot to the game. Jenna deserves to come back since she proved herself to be a good player in All-Stars, even though she fell short of making it to the end. She could still use another chance at it. Gervase deserves to come back since both of his times playing, he was pretty good, even though he never won. Colleen deserves to come back since she made it the farthest of all the Pagong members and could have lasted longer. Sean deserves to come back since he was a secretly brilliant contestant that could make a good returnee. Rudy deserves to come back since he is a well liked contestant who brought his own unique charm to the Survivor world. Kelly deserves to come back since she was a strong and fierce competitor. Richard deserves to come back since he created the game and what works in it.

Heroes: Dirk, Gretchen, Greg, Jenna, Colleen, Sean, and Rudy. Villains: Joel, Kelly, and Richard. Second Chances: Sonja, Ramona, Dirk, Gretchen, Colleen, Sean, and Kelly. All-Stars: Dirk, Gretchen, Greg, Gervase, Colleen, and Kelly. Favorites: Dirk, Gretchen, Greg, Colleen, and Kelly. Brains: Gretchen, Gervase, Rudy, and Richard. Brawn: Kelly. Beauty: Jenna, Colleen, and Sean. White collar: Richard, Ramona, and Sean. Blue collar: Rudy. No collar: Greg, Jenna, Sonja, and Kelly. Blood versus Water: Dirk (with someone like his wife), Gretchen (with someone like her husband), Greg (with someone like his sister), Jenna (with someone like her husband), and Sean (with someone like his father). One returnee per tribe seasons: Greg and Gretchen (both threats voted out after the merge), Jenna and Greg (due to their rivalry), Rudy and Richard (due to their mutual respect for each other).

Well, that’s my thoughts on the Borneo cast members. I’ve shared different thoughts before, but I thought that this one would be good too. I know the main twist of this blog post might never happen (but if Survivor ever wants to hire me as a creative consultant, feel free to let me know), but I still thought that I’d mention this anyways. Also, there is probably no way that everyone from this season becomes a returning player (especially since I’m still worried about Guatemala never having a returning player), but I still like putting my best effort into getting these people to return, even if none of them ever do besides those who have. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
