Episode 1.1b

Well, I don’t know just how long it will be since writing the previous post before I’ll be able to start with the old episodes of this season again. I hope that it won’t be too long, but also that I’ll have time to see all of the other old seasons of Survivor that I want to before I get to doing this one. I especially hope that I can get Survivor: All-Stars at some point in time.

I might explain more about how I know for a fact that I will be watching this season at least three more times with it being added to the end of a list at least two more times after this time later. Meanwhile, it could be a while before you see a poll somewhere about what contestant from a season I have I should do a recap of since I’ll be watching specific seasons for specific players that I’ll roll to choose from instead. I also don’t know if it will be in the Addicted to Survivor facebook group or somewhere else that I’ll do this potential poll in. I had issues doing polls in general with the new facebook so one may not be done again in the future depending on how it works.

Since I’m talking about the first season of Survivor, I might as well promote the podcast that I was in at one point since it is relevant. You see, a topic covered in this was which season a person felt had the most unique cast and someone (not me) picked Borneo. This topic is covered at about 53:40. Do you think that this person had a point?

To date, a YouTube channel called TVsins has covered only one Survivor episode that I know of. It was done so long ago that it still uses the original narrator of it who also does CinemaSins. Since it was the first episode of Survivor that they covered, then I might as well share it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsDLeUd3-PE

Of course, I’ve complained some about TVsins in a way that may not make sense to everyone and that includes me. I did a post about that in my TV blog. What it basically boiled down to is that I felt and still do feel that they exploit very recent streaming content too soon and it is often always on a paid site since I don’t honestly know of any streaming sites for TV shows that are entirely free and also legal to use for people who want to. I’ll still watch videos from it at times, but won’t go out of the way to catch up on it like I try to with other channels like CinemaSins still.

Since I’m trying to keep you updated on some different missionary links that are important, you should know that one YouTube video will be shared as long as I can watch it at some point in time. Meanwhile, I will share a link to the Belize Mission Society which mentions two other missionaries that I have shared before already. This is a catch all for all of the Belize missionary work that I know of thus far.

When I had thought of and worked out the potential of doing a third list of shows on DVD or stuff that is like it, what I knew was that I was needing at least 5 choices after it or having a good sorted list of two choices and making this a third choice. I got it to happen which is a long story short. I will mention what the choices are on the list.

Before I get much further, I should mention the Thursday shows that I watched around Lent in 2022. I did not have to worry about missing that much on Maundy Thursday since the ABC shows that I care about, Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, are on hiatus. I am not interested in Big Sky anymore. I still have old episodes of it to catch up on. I may return to it if it winds up ending this season.

Speaking of other shows that I couldn’t keep up with, I checked out both Welcome to Flatch and How We Roll, but will not be keeping up with either show a second time. I was also briefly into The United States of Al, but that did not last long past its amazing second season premiere. The other shows that I keep up with that air on Thursdays are the final season of Bull, SVU, Law and Order: Organized Crime, and Young Sheldon.

It was at first unknown if or how the third list will be done away with, merged, or woven into other lists. It is possible that this will affect the first two lists at some point. What is also interesting is that there are two other choices on my newest list that will result in my writing notes in a document for it. One will result in a TV blog post. The other will be part of a YouTube channel. I will keep notes somewhere in this blog about what will happen with different lists and how things will change. I did more rigging of various choices to even get the third list to happen when and how it did without it causing other complications of some sort that could have happened instead. A fourth list could have issues or maybe not. It will all depend on what I decide to maybe add as an emergency sixth option that I wouldn’t get normally.

Let’s get to challenges that start with L from Survivor fandom. There’s not much of an introduction to this section to put here. I was thinking that two choices could branch out and this is one of them that is branching out at this point in time.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Ladder_Tree_Golf

This is also known as Dizzy Gillespie, Chain Reaction, and True Grit. In this challenge, contestants have to get a certain number of bolas on a pole in a game similar to ladder toss and once had them competing for points to get a high score. This challenge could be done while social distancing in various ways.

For those who want to know more about it, here’s a link to the Wikipedia page on ladder toss. There is not much else to state about it. I’m unsure why people hate Wikipedia. Do people indoctrinate others with a hatred of it? The site is way more reliable than others would have you think. And people think that one should use google. Where is google going to take you most of the time? That’s right: Wikipedia. So what’s the issue with the site?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladder_toss

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Last_Gasp

In this challenge, contestants have to outlast each other before running out of breathing air, as they are in a water waiting for high tide to come in. While this challenge could be done while social distancing, I do not like it or want it to appear again. It seems too dangerous.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Letter_Hunt

This challenge is also known as sudden death. In it, contestants have to get bags of puzzle pieces of letters and have to use them to solve a phrase. This challenge could be done while social distancing. It is possible it could be done that way regardless of if the challenge is even tribal, potentially.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Lock,_Load_and_Light

In it, the complicated challenge has the tribes racing over obstacles, assemble a puzzle boat, row out to light a torch, row back, take the boat apart again, solve another puzzle, make another climbing wall, and then use their torch to light a bale. I think that it is possible to do this while social distancing if it were turned into a relay race with each single contestant given one of the tasks at hand.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Lock_Step

This is also known as unchained and temptation valley. In this challenge, contestants have to do a series of tasks or obstacles while attached to each other before they cross the finish line and win the challenge. This could not be done while social distancing as it would rely on people being too close to each other for the challenge.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Log_Jam

This is also known as lake log game. In it, contestants have to outlast their opponent while rolling on a log in a competition. Depending on how long the log would be, it could be done while social distancing. I just don’t know if that would create too much of a sight disadvantage.

https://survivor.fandom.com/wiki/Losing_Face

This is also known as bail out, box car blues, ball-istic missiles, and heroes end. In it, contestants must get through obstacles and then use slingshots to knock down targets. This challenge could maybe be done while social distancing, if turned into a relay race.

I’m now going to mention what the rolling list is and how it could affect other past Survivor seasons watching. I have some old seasons out in a bubble for potential future use that might happen at some point in time and other seasons could be frozen in place for a while. This one will have priority over a lot of other seasons that are on the older lists already.

Here are the choices to add in the order that they will be added in: NCIS season 10, Invader Zim season 1 (look out for a potential vlog about these episodes on my YouTube channel), Wallace and Gromit, Dr. Seuss tapes, Survivor: Borneo, and The Big Bang Theory season 10. In addition to being the fifth in line in terms of seniority on this list, Survivor: Borneo is also number 5 on the list of things to roll from. Not all of these can move up to the next list due to same letter rules that I have. I will also talk some about how this moving up past all of the ones before it will affect higher lists as well. This means that Survivor: China could be frozen out of being watched should Survivor: Borneo be what needs to be moved to the next list in line.

Since I’m wanting to add paragraphs in foreign languages in this Survivor blog of mine, I decided that the one that would best work would be a Latin paragraph for all of these season’s posts. Or, maybe not all of them in the event that I wind up sharing the original English paragraphs for when I shared these types of things in my blogs on Madam Secretary or The Good Fight.

It was on Earth Day or 4-22-2022 when this episode was “rolled” as in decided to be watched with me having the chance to do it. I will not know when I might have this chance to see it again. Know that I am juggling a lot of things around and can only hope that I stay as caught up as possible or that I want to in this blog’s past season’s posts. It was a Friday when this happened which delayed a post that would not have been ready anyways. I should be getting to that one before the week is over.

We begin with 16 people agreeing to be marooned on Borneo. They have only two minutes to get as many supplies as they can off of the boat that they are on. The contestants from each tribe are then gone through with Tagi being introduced first and Pagong second. They met for the first time and it is more than just survival skills, it is social skills as well. They must survive the island and each other.

Rudy talks on Tagi about how they should get rid of some boxes that are dead weight by putting them on the boat. Kelly disagrees with this. Meanwhile, Pagong finally arrives at their beach 3 hours after the marooning with Ramona worn out already. Dirk thinks that people like Richard annoy him. Richard thinks that they should function together. He gets into issues with Sue. He is convinced that they have already written the check for a million dollars for him while wanting to keep his cocky attitude in check. Can he do it? I guess we’ll have to see. Of course, I’ve already seen this.

The Tagi tribe opens rations. Is that unique to this season? Richard still tries to take control of his tribe while also expressing an interest in group mentality. When I say team, you say work. Team. Oh, wait. I had to get rid of the comments.

On Pagong, B. B. and Ramona take an hour to find water. B. B. says that neither him nor Ramona should give up the secret of the water or else they will get voted out. I guess that they both failed on that front. Maybe they need to wade, in the water.

Not much is happening back at Tagi. Sonja gets hurt a bit and is treated by Sean, the doctor. Sonja then sings a song on her ukulele. Richard is able to catch a rat. I wonder if this will be important to an allegory at the very end of this season. But he is going after prey.

Going back to Pagong, Ramona wasn’t able to sleep that much. B. B. takes charge of his tribe, but his work ethic annoys everyone. Gretchen tells him not to work too hard since she thinks that he will wear himself out. He doesn’t take this advice. On day two, Gretchen is able to make fire with the glasses that B. B. has. Tagi, meanwhile, is not able to make fire. But they don’t have someone with glasses on their tribe, do they? This could be a spoiler about who wins immunity tonight.

The Tagi tribe is shown reading the message about the upcoming challenge. It relates to fire. They will get 50 waterproof matches in addition to immunity. A storm is coming as the challenge starts. They have to light every torch and Sonja falls behind despite a good effort by her tribe at first. Also, is it just me or did the Tagi tribe have a bit more ground to cover than Pagong did? That has always bothered me about this challenge since the tribes were so close too.

After the loss, Dirk, a possible youth minister, reads the bible. Rudy bounds with Richard some. Rudy has some work ethic that some people don’t like it. Rudy is thought of as arrogant. But Richard also thinks that he won’t last if they realize that about him. They still bound for now. The people on Tagi all talk about who to vote with too much seeming unsure right now.

Jeff sizes up a few of the contestants on Tagi before they get to tribal council by walking there. They will get their torches back at camp and are able to bring fire as a result. Jeff talks a lot before some of the players on the tribe get to talk some, but not much happens at the tribal council. A chest with the money is there at tribal council.

The votes are cast with Richard voting for Stacey. Kelly, Stacey, and Sonja vote for Rudy. Rudy, Sean, Sue, and Dirk all vote for Sonja. It is thus Sonja that is voted out of the game first before anyone else is. She has to leave the tribal council area immediately. That catch phrase annoys me some. But I don’t think that he uses it anymore. I should pay attention.

Next week on Survivor, B. B. continues to irate people, Rudy and Richard become pretty good friends, but not in a homosexual way, that’s for sure. Sonja thinks that her tribe made the right decision when she talks in her final words.

Total confessional count: Rudy- 3, B. B.- 2, Kelly- 3, Richard- 5, Sue- 1, Colleen- 0, Sonja- 3, Jenna- 0, Joel- 0, Dirk- 1, Ramona- 2, Gervase- 0, Greg- 0, Gretchen- 1, Sean- 1, Stacey- 1.

I don’t think that I missed anyone, although it will be hard for me to tell and keep up with whether or not these numbers will match up with past ones that I’ve shared before. Anyways, I’m now going to talk about what I feel are Sonja’s chances of returning to play the game again. I know that she is older and a lot of time has passed. She doesn’t have much to offer outside of being the first boot and first boots who are first time players are typically never seen again. I give her about a 17% chance of playing the game again someday. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode 42.7

In honor of the week of Easter which has now come and gone, I’m going to mention the Sunday shows that I watch. I don’t watch too much on Sundays right now. I watch The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, The Great North, Family Guy, 60 Minutes, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Equalizer, The Rookie, and S.W.A.T.

While I now want to get to the one time challenges from the twentieth season, there are none. That makes it the first season both chronologically and ever to never have a single challenge in it be used only once. Thus, I’m going to get to the one time challenges from the twenty-first season.

Getting Tanked (immunity challenge from Young at Heart): In this challenge, contestants would have to have one of them on top of a tower to pour water down five gutters that five different players were holding. Once a barrel is full, a net of puzzle pieces would be released. The remaining players in the challenge would then assemble the puzzle with the first team to solve it winning. I think that it could be potentially done while social distancing, but there would have to be less people with it and only one doing the puzzle. I’m not sure that I’d like that variant. The only variant that anyone can like nowadays is Loki from the TV show of the same name.

Hay Mate (challenge from Fatigue Makes Cowards of us All): In this challenge, players would have to crawl in the mud under a net to get balls from a stack of hay. After being taken out of a casing, shields would be used to bounce balls into a barrel. Getting all four balls in would get you out, of attending tribal council, that is. I could potentially see this being done while social distancing if turned into a relay race if only one person had to do certain tasks.

Don’t Let Your Balls Drop (reward challenge from Turf Wars): In this challenge, both tribes have a ball that is coming down in random ways that have to be caught by members of the other tribe. If the ball hits the ground, the tribe that put the ball on the board (or the tribe that didn’t have members that just failed to catch it) gets a point. Once you get three points, you win the challenge. This could be done while social distancing. It seems very similar to the Price is Right game Plinko. The key difference is that you can get something good at any place of it in theory unless you don’t.

Cannon Ski-Ball (immunity challenge from What Goes Around, Comes Around): In this challenge, there are cannonballs that will be rolled by two people down a steep chute. The other four members will aim the chute while trying to break the other tribe’s tiles. Once all of them are broken, you’d win. If this could be done with less people at a time or while being able to stay away from each other, then it could be done while social distancing.

Poolin’ Around (reward challenge from This is Going to Hurt): In this challenge, contestants would work with their loved ones to compete in the challenge. The players would get two bags of puzzle pieces from a pool. These would be given to their loved ones who would then solve the word puzzle. If this were a true individual challenge, it could be done while social distancing.

Donkey Dig (penultimate immunity challenge from What about Me?): In this challenge, it makes use of the challenge Survivor folklore in certain ways. Players would have to get questions right about the history of Nicaragua. Once they get the valid puzzle pieces, they’d have to solve the puzzle in order to win the challenge at hand. It could probably be done while social distancing.

In this post from my Madam Secretary blog, I talk about linking this up with my Survivor blog and blogging about the season Palau. Nearly all of that blog was late for a while and most of it outdated since I was done blogging about Palau that time by the time that these posts were published. I also talk about presidents replacing cabinet members. As I now know quite well, anyone who is not the vice-president can be replaced at any time the president wants (or at least fired) and even the vice-president can be replaced by a different running mate or other reasons via the 25th Amendment.

https://adamdeckermadamsecretaryblog.blogspot.com/2017/01/episode-from-5-8-2016.html

Movie update: On Friday, I chose not to watch a movie because of Good Friday and family visits. I had instead watched an episode of NCIS that I was not able to finish until Saturday when I would have then normally watched a different selection of movies. On Easter Sunday, I could see nothing from either list due to first a family visit for lunch and then new primetime shows during supper. On Monday, I watched The Bourne Identity. I replaced it with The Bourne Supremacy. I did not watch a movie on Tuesday as I was still finishing Monday’s movie then.

Since Lydia was the most recent person voted out of this Survivor season, I might as well get to sharing the only song currently that I know of that has the name Lydia in its title and that’s Lydia the tattooed lady, this version being from The Muppet Show.

Well, it is unfortunate based on the feedback that I would have liked more of, but due to all of the spam that people or bots were posting in the comments of this blog, I had no choice but to ban comments, or I’m pretty sure, at least that I did. I might do more bans in other blogs should people start posting spam there as well. And that would include foreign language spam. If you do have any legit comments that you want to post about any of this blog, then go to my Madam Secretary blog and be sure to start your comment with “I wanted to post this in your Survivor blog:”

Something else that I’m wondering about is if the people with them can combine their advantage amulet into one. I mean, they did have that super idol in Kaoh Rong that was like that in a way. Maybe these people can get a regular idol that way. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, the now merged tribe, Kula Kula, is wondering whether or not there will be a merge feast at all. Chanelle didn’t like being on the wrong side of the numbers. Drea has to talk to Romeo to ensure that they are still allies. Maryanne feels like she’s on the bottom of the tribe. Mike wants to be seen as an ally to others. He also talks to Omar about Islam for over an hour and Mike learns that they aren’t that different. Deep down you’ll find I’m just like you. Tori looks forward to a potential food reward since it makes lips loose. I think that she’s thinking of having an advantage.

At the reward challenge, we learn that there is a beware advantage at the challenge at the sit-out bench there. Drea wants to switch with Maryanne so that Drea is sitting out instead of Maryanne. I might have done the same thing maybe since I don’t like peanut butter and jelly either. Of course, now, I’d be more likely to be looking for an advantage since one has been there now three times at least. We never even know what the advantage was that Xander didn’t find last season. (That should have been most people’s hint that he wasn’t going to win since he missed things that were there like a winner wouldn’t.) It turns out that Drea does get the advantage that she notices is there. It is the blue team that wins.

In the second segment of the show, Jonathan and others like the reward. Others that lost are more okay with it than they otherwise might be. Different names are brought up like Tori, Chanelle, and Romeo. Omar is playing all sides right now. That’s normally too risky a move. Zane became the first boot of his season, Philippines, because of it. Of course, he was too open with everyone about it. Anyways, we see Drea getting the knowledge is power advantage getting her four advantages total. I can’t even keep track of who all has what advantage. I just hope that an idol is played correctly this season. Drea has to worry about red paint on her hand that Tori notices and is suspicious of.

In the third segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge with Jeff talking about another sit-out for rice component of the challenge. The next person voted out starts the jury. The tribe members also negotiate themselves who will sit out of the challenge. Ultimately, the four sit-outs happen with Lindsay, Maryanne, Omar, and Drea all sitting out. Why was Maryanne so emotional about it? She has an idol. Of course, one could realize that if someone has an idol, they could be thought of as someone with an idol in the event that they chose to sit out. Tori wins the challenge. Of course, they would show the wobbly person as the winner. I was sketchy of the detail for a moment, though. Drea wants the vote out to be Romeo, Chanelle or Romeo.

In the fourth segment of the show, it appears that the main target of the vote might be Chanelle. But when Romeo learns that he was one of the names brought up, he scrambles a lot. This appears to have a negative effect as they now want to target Romeo instead. Mike still wants to vote out Chanelle. And he wants to convince his alliance to stick with his target. Was Rocksroy’s name brought up? I couldn’t tell for sure. It might be Romeo who is voted out, but we’ll see if he is or isn’t.

In the fifth segment of the show, we get to tribal council and I can’t even summarize a lot of what had just happened since I was too busy getting supper ready. And if you think that’s bad, I’m working on writing a completely different Survivor episode from a different season that is paused right now. It does seem that the sit-outs aren’t targets.

People talk about whether they want to drive or be a passenger in a car. Do you ever have dreams where a car is driving widely out of control, but not in a way that it normally would in reality without causing a crash? Maybe it is driving on an interstate and no one is at the wheel as you seek to get in control. Or maybe someone else is driving in a way that makes you quite uncomfortable.

Anyways, after the worst tribal council recap ever, Chanelle is voted out of the game with some scattered votes for other, random people. I just thought of something, should you let the secondary target be legit since they will know this when votes for them are read? They would be quite wary of this if they know they could be a target the second time around.

On the next Survivor, there will be two immunities and two people going home as it seems that there is the usual split tribal council that has largely happened since Ghost Island. And other stuff was known in the promo as well such as maybe issues with Jonathan and Lindsay.

Total confessional count: Lindsay- 7, Romeo- 10, Hai- 14, Chanelle- 16, Tori- 10, Maryanne- 15, Mike- 19, Drea- 14, Jonathan- 12, Omar- 21, Rocksroy- 11.

New confessionals this episode: Romeo- 1, Hai- 0, Chanelle- 1, Tori- 2, Maryanne- 2, Mike- 4, Drea- 3, Jonathan- 1, Omar- 4, Rocksroy- 0, Lindsay- 0.

I’m unsure based on the confessional count who the potential winner of this season might be. I don’t think that it’s Omar, although he has been seen more. I doubt that it is Tori. Maryanne seems unlikely. Mike is kind of out there so I’m unsure of him. I’m not as confident regarding Jonathan. And yet, all of the people I just mentioned seem more likely than not to be the winner than the others. We’ll find out if they are playing the fourth quiet game in a row. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode 42.6

Now that we’ve seen a good chunk of the shot in the dark, we can analyze its both failure and success rate thus far. In a way, everyone who has played it thus far was voted out when they played it. Thus, if it ever landed on safe, it would have saved this person. And, in some cases, it would have caused a bit of a scramble vote since no one would have had votes counted for them some of the times that it was used thus far. I do feel that it has worked better in its brief time in this season thus far, even if it has yet to do much of anything.

It does make me think about video games that I’ve played. In Skies of Arcadia, there is a healing thing that can revive a knocked out player only half of the time. The other half of the time, it does nothing. It is only of the most annoying revival spells in video games, if not the most annoying. It is already bad enough that in some games, like Final Fantasy IX, reviving a dead character gives them very little health. But to do nothing is a bigger problem. This Survivor twist instead gives a onetime use item that gives only a 1 in 6 chance of staying in the game if people otherwise voted you out both at the sacrifice of your own vote and at way less odds than the recovery spell I mentioned in Skies of Arcadia.

One of the things that I have mentioned thus far is that rolling a specific thing, if what was happening was a true roll, is like me actually rolling a Survivor episode on DVD from any season. This is why I just decide sometimes to watch episodes of Survivor from a large reserve of mine. It’s one of the many reasons why I invited this in the first place.

Let’s get to the one time challenges from the nineteenth season. It seems that there is a theme to it involving coconuts or nuts in the end. Some of them were interesting to see. I don’t know if all of them work in the end. But they are better than a lot of some season’s themes.

Bocce in a box (reward challenge from Hungry for a Win): In this challenge, the contestants basically play bocce ball. I will share a link explaining what that is for those of you who don’t know. It could easily be done while social distancing.

Bocce ball is basically a form of a sport where you roll out certain things and then try to roll your ball to a certain place while hoping that your opponent doesn’t do the same. Parts of it are similar to darts or shuffleboard. If you want to know more about it, here’s a link from Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bocce

Canoe Dueling (immunity challenge from Houdini Magic): In this challenge, contestants would have to paddle out to get fish shaped puzzle pieces. People would then have to assemble the puzzle. If this were done individually, this could easily be done while social distancing.

Nut Cracker (immunity challenge from All Hell Breaks Loose): In this challenge, the men would compete against the men and women against the women to each win separate immunities. It would be a game like tee-ball with the playing field done in different sections and different point values. The people with the highest score would win immunity. This could easily be done while social distancing.

The name of Nutcracker is similar to the Christmas Russian ballet story and music done by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. I may not share any songs from that in the future (although I could share all of it), although I might wind up sharing the rock version of tunes from this done by The Trans-Siberian Orchestra as one of their well known tunes is called A Very Russian Christmas.

Coconut Code (reward challenge from Tastes Like Chicken): In this challenge, contestants would be split into two teams of five. Players would go out in pairs to get poles with black and white coconuts with the white coconuts arranged to form a four digital number that the remaining, blindfolded member would have to solve. Once they got their lock open, they would win. It is possible that parts of this could be done while social distancing.

Square Peg, Round Hole (immunity challenge from Tastes Like Chicken): In this challenge, contestants would have to use a grappling hook to get bags with wooden pegs. The first three to do this would move onto the final round. In the final round, players would have to use the pegs to release other ones which would then release more and more until the board is full, completing the puzzle and winning the challenge at hand. This could easily be done while social distancing. Aspects of this seem similar to what would be the final immunity challenge in South Pacific that I’ll get to so parts of this aren’t unique and were used again in other seasons.

Coco Plunk (reward challenge from Two Brains are Better than One): In this challenge, there would be a lot of coconuts suspended in the air by ropes in a frame. They must have gotten into trouble at school if they were suspended. Anyways, a castaway from each team would remove a rope and this would wind up releasing coconuts potentially. Only, you wouldn’t want coconuts to be released. If 100 coconuts or more would be released, your team would lose. This could easily be done while social distancing. This seems similar in some ways to Jenga or Operation.

Tentacle (penultimate immunity challenge from This Game Ain’t Over): In this challenge, contestants would have to race over a cargo net, over the top of a balance beam, untie puzzle pieces, and go back to the start with said pieces. Once they have all of them, they would take these pieces up a wall to solve a puzzle first to win immunity. This could be done while social distancing. I have no idea what the name of this challenge means at all.

In this old link from my Madam Secretary blog, I talk about how shows become misnomers. That wound up being the case with that show, but only in the final season when the character became president. I also talk about Jane the Virgin which also became a misnomer when the main character had sex. She was married at the time, but then her husband died, or so we were lead to believe. She ultimately had sex with four different men throughout the course of the show. I also mentioned issues with the TV tuner and how it related to poor recaps. I still have issues with that at times. The main issue is one of the recordings not playing back when I try to watch it. It is made worse because then I have to spend time deleting it in a way I normally wouldn’t otherwise.

https://adamdeckermadamsecretaryblog.blogspot.com/2017/01/episode-from-5-1-2016.html

Movie update: On Friday, I didn’t watch any movies since I was busy with other things. Nowadays, I have to spend more time getting caught up on shows that I recorded on my laptop sometimes so I will do that instead of watching movies at times. On Saturday, I watched The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. I was still watching that to end out Sunday. I replaced it with The Pelican Brief. On Monday, I saw Blank Check. I replaced it with The Bourne Identity. On Tuesday, I was watching recorded shows on my laptop instead of seeing a movie.

Something that I’m wondering about relates to the advantage armlet. What if multiple ones are played at once? I’m guessing that it would work on the lowest level for any and all of them if played at once. And I’m pretty sure that this is more of a secret than the beware idols or some things like that. But I don’t think that it is just the three (whoever they are) that know of the armlet.

I will post another possibly meaningless update that more bad weather is supposed to come to the area when this Survivor episode is airing. Maybe this will affect my being able to watch the show or maybe it won’t. I’m just posting this update here in the event that it is delayed. Of course, it would likely wind up being delayed even more due to the Easter weekend. I can only hope that some shows would wind up being rebroadcast as I think that they are legally supposed to if storm coverage airs over it. I just won’t always know when or even if this will happen so I won’t know when to record it, if it even airs again at all. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, Chanelle is glad that she came out on top. Insert dirty joke here. She then admits to Mike that she’s the person who voted for him. Mike says that he will never trust Chanelle again, even though he does still trust his other two tribe members. Meanwhile, Rocksroy doesn’t want to talk to Tori and she doesn’t want to work with him. She knows about what could happen on the summit. Drea and Romeo hear their discussion. They want to get rid of Tori.

Meanwhile, Jeff walks us through the merge twist in advance of the challenge. He says that there will be some tweaks with this. And I already like some of the ways it sounds better than how it was done last time. But will it work out this time? I guess we’ll see. After this is talked about, teams are drawn. And that’s when we go to commercial.

In the second segment of the show, the tribes are decided, but it is hard to tell who is on what team as they go through this too fast and I can’t pause this to better keep track of it. I was able to tell that the sit outs are Lindsay and Rocksroy. The orange team, featuring none else but Jonathan, takes an early lead in the challenge. He is either going to do very well or get voted out due to his threat status. I don’t yet see the second one happening, but it could.

Drea does terribly at the challenge for blue with the orange team doing well. Maryanne ignores Jonathan’s advice in the meantime. Despite catching up some, it is the blue team that loses with the orange team winning. Lindsay is picked the join the winning team. Rocksroy is sent away and also given the power to change the game. Rocksroy thinks that he is being weakened more.

In the third segment of the show, Lindsay talks about winning the reward. This is despite her only being given it. Jonathan talks about how he might have wanted the power in the game. Tori is talking about all of her tribe’s problems. What about doctor patient confidentiality? Oh, wait. Jonathan eats a lot. Those who lost the challenge eat their meager rice. Drea is actually able to predict the twist. She then talks to Mike about his idol. They warn each other about players they can’t rust on their tribes. Mike says that he is not going home with an idol in his pocket. I feel like they want us to remember this line.

We then see the struggles of Rocksroy. He does get the hourglass and hammer, but there is nothing known about this yet. He thinks that one should always double the firewood that one might need. We also learn that Rocksroy has a vision problem that could or will lead to blindness. He is getting the type of exile that Janu got. He is actually enjoying this.

In the fourth segment of the show, the players sans Rocksroy all unite. People talk about the advantage amulet and they talk about working together instead of apart. We have more that unites us than divides us. I forget who said that, but I like that quote. Maryanne thinks that people have to work together. Mike and Jonathan bond. He thinks that someone is Karen about him. I didn’t think that Karens were nice in today’s world.

In the fifth segment of the show, Jonathan fishes and people talk about his awesomeness. We then get to Romeo talking to someone (I missed who) about both being LGBT. Omar learns that Chanelle had lost her vote, which means that he lost his vote and she didn’t tell him. He can’t even get revenge on her by voting her out this round. Would he want to wait?

In the sixth segment of the show, there are some quick things that happen such as buff shaming and it is hard to tell everything about what is going on. There seems to be a strategy going on. People already are throwing their own tribe members under the bus. I can’t summarize a lot of this stuff. Drea tells others about her extra vote when Omar reveals that he may not have one. Rocksroy is visited by Jeff. Jeff then tells Rocks about the decision at hand. He weighs his decision.

In the seventh segment of the show, the group of players gather at the immunity challenge and we learn that Rocksroy did smash the hourglass. There are a lot of setbacks in the challenge for nearly everyone. But Tori does well and wins the challenge. Lydia thinks that things will be chaos. I thought that Chaos was a short lived CBS show.

In the eighth segment of the show, Rocksroy talks about wanting to build alliances and how he is safe for now. Romeo wants Jonathan gone. Only five people can be voted against. Maryanne is brought up as a target due to her advantages. Jonathan realizes that he’s a target, but he’s not going down without a fight. Omar thinks that he could be quiet since he can’t vote. But he also wants to influence the vote for Lydia in a way. Or, at least, that’s what he is telling Maryanne. He tells Maryanne that she’s a target. But the vote seems to be largely heading towards Maryanne. Or is it?

In the ninth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. Hai says that this is a defining vote. Aren’t all of them? Romeo says that people have BS conversations with him. Are you a driver or a passenger? A fearful game won’t get you everywhere. Jeff talks about being a different version of himself when he went to a new high school. Lydia talks about her confidence becoming real when she’s her true self. Jonathan thinks that everyone should do everything that they wanted to do.

Omar thinks that he can be okay saying that he’s worried. Rocksroy talks about his alliance and decision leading to tonight. We see that Maryanne is worried about being a target. A random beetle makes a cameo at tribal council. Was that Ringo Starr? Or Paul McCarthy? Anyways, the votes happen and no one plays an idol or advantage. Lydia is voted out of the game. This is confusing. This leads the rest of the players to be officially merged.

On the next Survivor, someone is creating chaos and a lot of names are brought up, or at least three of them are. What is going on? I’d like to know for sure, but won’t find out until later. I guess that I’ll have to wait until then to know for sure.

Total confessional count: Jonathan- 11, Omar- 17, Rocksroy- 11, Lindsay- 7, Romeo- 9, Hai- 14, Chanelle- 15, Tori- 8, Lydia- 9, Maryanne- 13, Mike- 15, Drea- 11.

New confessionals this episode: Drea- 3, Jonathan- 4, Omar- 4, Rocksroy- 5, Lindsay- 1, Romeo- 4, Hai- 5, Chanelle- 5, Tori- 2, Lydia- 4, Maryanne- 3, Mike- 3.

I’m not doing a schedule this time, but will have the one for August before the end of this season unless some major change happens. I know that I won’t do anything for September or later until I know what the schedule is for certain shows as in when they are returning. Note that any delayed posts that might happen for the rest of this season would not be on Thursdays but would be on Fridays at the very soonest. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.

Episode 42.5

While I didn’t quite explain it that well, I might as well explain a bit more as to why the blog was late last week. I could have potentially seen things sooner and gotten the blog post done on time. But it was too late in the day in my mind to get it done on Wednesday like I would have liked to or wanted.

Let’s get to the one time challenges from the eighteenth season. I don’t think that there was too much of a theme to any of these that I could tell. There were interesting ones that I noticed from what I remember. I do need to see videos of these online if they exist. But I highly doubt that I have the time for this ever in the future.

A River, Run Through it (opening challenge from Let’s Get Rid of the Weak Players Before we Even Start): In this challenge, contestants would have to run across a series of hills to a river to get a raft with puzzle pieces planks in it that could then be taken back to shore, untied, taken back to the starting line, and used to build a staircase that would have to be climbed by the whole tribe. At the top, they would have to get a peg through a table maze to release the tribe’s flag to win the challenge. Depending on how they could potentially do this challenge with however few people could work, this could be done while social distancing as a relay race. Its name references a book turned into a movie. That movie is on my list of things to watch.

Dizziness as Usual (reward challenge from You’re Going to Want that Tooth): In this challenge, there would be two players. One would sit on a spinning platform. The other would race across to a platform where they would grab a rope to pull back to the starting line. This would spin the platform that the first contestant is on. Once the platform is done being spun, the person on it would have to cross a balance beam to score a point for the tribe. Once three points are scored, that tribe would win the challenge. This could easily be done while social distancing.

When Pigs Fly (reward challenge from One of Those Coach Moments): In this challenge, tribes would build a barricade around the other tribe’s frames. After 5 minutes of that, the other tribe would then have 10 minutes to have ceramic pigs tossed through this and needed to get the most points. I think that aspects of this could be done while social distancing.

Sandstone Shootout (immunity challenge from One of Those Coach Moments): In this challenge, tribes would have a member shoot down targets of tiles from towers made of sand. This would break apart puzzle pieces and create a reaction to make more of this available. I seem to remember there being some weird aspect of the challenge that I didn’t quite understand and would need to see again to remember how it worked as an eager beaver seemed to make it harder for his tribe to win since it meant that more of the target could never be revealed. Anyways, solve the puzzle and the challenge would be won. I think that an individual version of this could be done while social distancing.

Swiss Cheese Place (reward challenge from It’s Funny When People Cry): In this challenge, contestants would have to get four large puzzle boards, arrange them so that holes in them would reveal seven vowels, and these vowels would be used with seven consonants to solve a four word phrase. It is possible that an individual version of this could be done while social distancing.

Blind to Reason (reward challenge from The Martyr Approach): In this challenge, contestants would have their feet shackled together and have to race through a maze. Once through, they would build a pole to get a sandbag that would then be used to knock over three targets. This could be done while social distancing, I’m pretty sure.

In this blog post from Madam Secretary, I wind up writing about Murphy station, which is mentioned a whole lot throughout the show although I never understood what it was about. I also talk about having multiple lists to watch at once, which I do now currently. I am at three lists and could even get four at some point in time and might.

https://adamdeckermadamsecretaryblog.blogspot.com/2017/01/episode-from-4-24-2016.html

Movie update: On Friday, I watched Hancock. I didn’t finish that until Saturday. I replaced it with John Q. On Saturday, I still watched a movie: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I replaced it with The Return of the King. I was still finishing The Two Towers on Sunday afternoon so no movie then. On Sunday night, I watched Copacabana instead of the Grammys. Nothing else that I cared about was new outside of The Rookie. (I’ll get to what I no longer care about soon and what all I watch on Sundays in a near future post.) I replaced that with Bean: the Movie. On Monday, I didn’t watch a movie since I did not have the time for it. On Tuesday, I watched Zorba the Greek. I replaced that with Recess: School’s Out. Note that I will not be watching Zorba the Greek again. I couldn’t make sense of the plot. Was there even any plot in it? I’ve no idea.

Finishing March Madness for the year, the teams for the finals were as follows: North Carolina beat Duke (upset) and Kansas beat Villanova. If North Carolina wins, it will be another upset. With the final game of the championship, it was between North Carolina and Kansas with the winner being Kansas. They overcome a huge deficient to win said game. I guess that I’ll have to see someone who I know wears the Kansas logo when I see them what their thoughts were and if they saw any of this. It is worth noting that in addition to North Carolina, the other teams that I liked that Kansas beat at one point were Texas Southern, Creighton, and Providence.

There is only one link to share in this blog post. This one is the song It’s My Life that I felt was referenced in the name of a challenge that I talked about in the last post. This has reached over 1 billion views on YouTube. I have no idea just how many YouTube videos have that feat and if all of them are music videos. I’m not currently familiar with any video on YouTube that has done that without being a music video. We’ve come a long ways since Charlie Bit Me was the most viewed video.

There’s a show that I’ve kept track of at times called Riverdale which I’ve mentioned before in this and other blogs. I’ve had an on again off again relationship with that show. I was into it originally, but then had issues keeping up with it. I then felt my experience with it was complete before returning to it due to its connections to a new show I was wanting to see that I didn’t ultimately watch more than once. But that time frame, season 4 of Riverdale’s second half, was the best of the show thus far.

Ultimately, things soured pretty fast in season 5. It didn’t help them that they had to start out doing what was supposed to be the end of season 4. The show got too strange with it ruining Betty’s character and not having an ultimate focus. What I saw of season 6, the whole Rivervale arc, was just way too out there. It’s as if the writers were high on jingle jangle. Plus they waited far too late in the show to just now suddenly introduce supernatural elements. I’m done with the show again so we’ll see if it sticks this time or not. It probably will.

There is one last thing to note before I get to the episode in question. There have been some recent spam comments on this blog. While I deleted them as one would, I’m hoping that this doesn’t become a thread. If it does, I’ll have no choice but to ban any comment on any post of this blog. I would even have to do this on other blogs should this happen there as well. I wouldn’t be too torn up by this since there aren’t really any comments on this blog anyways. But I thought that I would mention this here in case you were wanting to comment and ultimately aren’t able to. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, Romeo talks about the vote off. Rocks thinks that he understands now why the vote happened the way it was. Many don’t want to work with him. Tori wants to lie. I thought that it was the therapist’s patients that lied on a sofa. How does a therapist lying make you feel? In the meantime, Jonathan is annoyed by Maryanne and her constant talking. He takes a break, but goes back and still has issues with her like when she thinks that he hit her. People think that she’s being too petty. And they want to vote her out.

Daniel talks some about what is going on in the game. Whose games are the most in danger? He decides to go fishing. People are remembering his dislocated shoulder. But this makes people not trust him since he’s doing well at least fishing some, if not well in general regarding his shoulder. Maybe he shouldn’t have been holding himself back in challenges. But I thought that if it really were in issue, they would have pulled him from the game. Maybe they shouldn’t have believed him in the first place.

In the second segment of the show, Romeo wants to go looking for an idol and does it with Drea. And by that I mean, he looks for an idol with Drea. Get your filthy minds out of the gutter. He talks about how he coaches pageant women. Did he get this job by riding up the glass escalator? Drea insists that she and other women are better than men. Well, duh. It’s not rude to say that. She knows about the one phrase that has been said. She wonders why the green tribe hasn’t said it.

Mike says that he isn’t yet sure if he wants to say the phrase since it means others know that he has it. He can get his vote back at the merge without people knowing this. Maybe there is some smartness about this. He doesn’t yet know if he will say it. Everyone on his tribe knows about his idol. If people in Survivor would only learn to keep their mouths shut, then only the three people who say the phrase would have to worry about knowing who this is. Also, a Survivor writer (which doesn’t exist anyways) should have been fired by now since they are repeating the basic plot themes of people not being able to keep secrets since Heroes versus Healers versus Hustlers.

In the third segment of the show, the tribes gather for the challenge and make their phrases again with all three of them saying it. Maryanne is glad that someone says the phrase. Does the fact that some of the phrases were bungled matter at all? Mike is glad that someone else said the phrase. The challenge is described too quickly for me to write so maybe this is why I never mention what the challenge is. Daniel is the sit out. Despite being seen so much in confessionals to an extent, I don’t think that he’s going to be lasting much longer in the game.

The blue tribe comes in first. The orange tribe unusually struggles for a while, but still manages to beat the green tribe. I guess that The Super Tight Four is going to stay strong thus far. Another journey will be made by two players. Hai is more certain now that he will be in control of the vote.

In the fourth segment of the show, both Daniel and Chanelle feel that they are in danger and both want one on ones with all of the tribe members. It seems that people want Daniel gone and they don’t want him to play the shot in the dark. But that hasn’t yet meant anything. Hai wants to split the votes. In now all depends on what Lydia does.

Speaking of that, she and Rocks arrives at the summit. She talks about having body issues. She feels very comfortable in what has happened in the game thus far but still wants to see and do more in Survivor. Rocks decides to protect his vote. Lydia makes the same decision. Also, I have the feeling that they won’t be able to keep doing this or this exact same set up beyond this season. Anyways, Lydia is told between who is going home. But she knows that between her and Hai, they are controlling the vote this time around with Mike also on their side and the vote between Daniel and Chanelle.

In the fifth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. Mike is told that people may be doing what they are supposed to be doing, but still have to control what goes on at the end. Hai is told that some people could be lying. Mike sees the tribe as a team and that’s how Daniel feels about this. Chanelle thinks that Daniel was doing some of that for show. He claims that it was genuine, but Chanelle doesn’t seem to buy this based on her face at the time. Lydia thinks that a merge is coming up.

The numbers are not obvious. Trust is the main issue at hand. Hai wants to establish trust. Daniel thinks that only the truly greatest players don’t get burned at least once. Jeff claims that they have to get rid of the least trustworthy player. Mike only wants to vote based on game play. The votes are cast and no one played an advantage. There’s a random vote for Mike in there. What? This leads to a tie, but only maybe the second one in Survivor history that is certain to be resolved in a revote. Daniel is voted out of the game as a result.

On the next Survivor, it is two hours and they are finally admitting it again. I only hope that they keep this up. Thank you for reading this blog, whoever did this, whether you are a Survivor person or deal with the promos on CBS. Anyways, it is possibly like the weird merge from last season, but hopefully not too much of a repeat as the hourglass twist probably shouldn’t happen again. I guess that we will see what will happen in the end.

Total confessional count: Tori- 6, Lydia- 5, Maryanne- 10, Daniel- 10, Mike- 12, Drea- 8, Jonathan- 7, Omar- 13, Rocksroy- 6, Lindsay- 6, Romeo- 5, Hai- 9, Chanelle- 10.

New confessionals this episode: Daniel- 2, Mike- 4, Drea- 2, Jonathan- 1, Omar- 1, Rocksroy- 3, Lindsay- 0, Romeo- 1, Hai- 3, Chanelle- 1, Tori- 1, Lydia- 2, Maryanne- 2.

It seems that only Lindsay wasn’t seen as much in this episode. We seem to be at a point where a lot of the players have ten or more confessionals. The lowest total seems to be a tie between Lydia and Romeo. Omar has the most right now, but that could be bloated due to the summit.

Note that with next week being Holy Week and today being the last Wednesday Lenten service of the year, there will be only one more week, namely next week, where I will allow myself to post this blog on Thursday instead of the usual Wednesday. While I can delay the current episode posts to other days of the week, I don’t plan to or want to since it means delaying at least one old season’s posts until the end of this season. (This is my own rule that I’d want to enforce.) We’ll see if there are any delays or reasons why I can’t get a post done in time like a family visit, storm coverage, phone poll, or other reason why I can’t get a post done on a Wednesday. We’ll have to see what happens for sure later. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
