Episode 43.5

I’ve decided that in the near future, I will be sharing some updates on the covid pandemic in Fiji since that is where they film Survivor and it relates to this show, of course. I’ve heard that some people have had issues getting to Fiji and thus they were upset that Survivor got to film instead of people who had more of a reason to get there. That might be worth covering more of here.

Next, I was wanting to do the one time challenges from the thirty-first season, but there are none to cover. Thus, I’m going to go with the one time challenges from the thirty-second season. This actually even things out a bit since they flipped the filming and the airing of those seasons potentially because that way we wouldn’t question what happened to Mark the chicken who was eaten in Cambodia by some accounts. Of course, the main reason was actually all the hype for Cambodia making it make more sense for it to go out of order and maintain a regular filming schedule.

Dig it (reward challenge from Signed, Sealed, and Delivered): In this challenge, the tribes would have to dig under a log before making their way to a sand pit and digging up three bags of balls. Once all of the tribes have balls, they had to be rolled into a series of targets. It could be done while social distancing. But it is remembered for three different contestants passing out and one of them having to be medically evacuated in the end. Thus, it might not be likely to appear again as a result even though I don’t blame the design of the challenge for this.

Baba buoys (reward challenge from Play or Go Home): In this challenge, contestants would swim down to release buoys, get them on a rack, and then shoot the buoys in a basket. If this were individual, this could potentially be done while social distancing. But since this involves swimming, it might not work that way at all.

Knot Your Fault (reward challenge from It’s Psychological Warfare): In this challenge, teams must work together to untangle ropes tied to contestants. They must then open a box containing sandbags. Once they use all of these sandbags to knock over wooden blocks on a platform, they win reward. I do not think that this challenge could be done while social distancing.

5x5 (reward challenge from With me or Not with me): In this challenge, contestants must race into the jungle, climb a ladder to get sandbags, and launch them into a series of targets. They would have to get a sandbag on five targets in order to win. This is known for a design flaw which allowed one player to get an advantage that ultimately got him pulled from the game. Basically, if they ran out of sandbags, they couldn’t do anything unless everyone ran out of sandbags or someone still in the challenge won. A better done version of this challenge could be done while social distancing.

There was a song that Huey Lewis and the News did called Hip to be Square. It is one of the more well known songs that I’m familiar with, although I should look for a parody that I think that Sesame Street did at one point that they kept using to promote that show on the commercial free PBS network.

The other song worth covering from the last post is Soul to Squeeze. I hope that you like this song as well. There isn’t much of a reason to share this other than it being mentioned in the last post as a name of a challenge and I like the song well enough.

Before I get to the next highest football team that I root for, it makes sense in my rankings to reveal what the lowest four teams are for me. The lowest one is one that I always root against no matter what. The next lowest, I root for only when they play the team below it. The lowest team for me is the New England Patriots that I often perform to call The Fucking Patriots. They are the second worst group that uses the term patriots, the other being covered in one of my political blog posts.

The second lowest team for me is Da Bears, The Chicago Bears, that is. I’ve never liked Chicago that much so I don’t root for their teams. The third lowest team for me is the Arizona Cardinals. They are just not a group that I currently see myself rooting for now or possibly ever. Maybe I will at some point in the future, but it is easier for me to root against them than for.

Now there was once a playoff season that the Rams had that might have been their first under Sean McVay and thus their first winning season in over a decade (I believe), their first of what has become only been winning seasons for them thus far (current season pending). And while there were stumbles that they had with this season, such as losing half of their home games, they did make the playoffs. But they lost to the Atlanta Falcons in those playoffs which makes the Falcons the fourth lowest team.

I am hoping that I can try to improve the timing of updates in this blog so that they aren’t so late or not even there at all. I don’t want disasters like the recent post that was on Tuesday when it could have and should have been there on time. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, the tribe that voted out Lindsay returns with the other person who got two votes wondering what happened and the person admitting who the vote is from. The next day, the yellow tribe has Elie and Jeanine looking for an idol and Jeanine finding it. They don’t want to tell Owen, but who should walk in on them at that time and notice this but Owen. He learns the secret and Jeanine gets all of the beads quite easily with everyone but Gabler knowing this at first. But Gabler is told about what is going on by Sami with Gabler dumbfounded by this.

In the second segment of the show, we get to the reward and immunity challenge in the game. This seems very early to do and get this done. The blue tribe has, to quote Jay Exci, an EPIC FAILURE! They lose. Geo, Jeanine, and Jessie go on a journey. It turns out that Ryan had thrown the challenge on purpose in order to vote out Cassidy. And as we all know from this sort of thing, throwing a challenge to vote out a player never ever backfires. (That’s sarcasm.)

In the third segment of the show, while Cassidy is told that she was the target, she is told instead that Geo might be the best vote. But it could be Ryan that really could be voted out. Cassidy thinks that he is full of BS since he didn’t think that he is going about this the right way and being too obvious since she knows the truth. He thinks that he’s a great mastermind, but he could be voted out next.

Meanwhile, at the summit, the three people have to row to the sand spit with Geo lying and saying that he is not in power. Jeanine doesn’t buy his story. In the end, all three of them risk the vote. This means that two of them will lose their vote while only one will get an advantage.

In the fourth segment of the show, Jesse is revealed to have lost his vote which he reveals to his whole tribe. Meanwhile, Jeanine appears at her tribe with her tribe asleep. She wakes them and reveals to them that she lost her vote as if she hadn’t opened this before. Geo reveals to Karla that he has the knowledge is power advantage. He hasn’t seen it be used successfully because it hasn’t been used in any successful way yet. Karla mentions his advantage and says that they should vote Geo. But Cassidy still wants to vote out Ryan. James is unsure of what to do.

In the fifth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. Cassidy feels momentum. Ryan is told that he had dropped the ball. He is still trying to play the perfect victim here. Cassidy says that she wouldn’t have done the same thing. Karla wants things to be easy. She wants to be ready with the knives. Geo wants to vote in the right direction. James is told that Geo said what happened on the journey. I have to say that journey just doesn’t stop believing. Geo ironically points out that one doesn’t know who all is telling the truth. Karla seems thrown off guard by this question. Ryan wants the truth revealed about him and wants to kill with kindness. Cassidy thinks that a vote can be more unified. Nobody plays any idols or advantages. It is Geo who gets voted out with an unused advantage.

On the next Survivor, there is a merge going on, it seems, but there is a final twist of some sort. What else could be going on? I guess that we won’t know for sure or see whether or not there is another of these weirdish fake merge like things.

Total confessional count: Elie- 9, Jeanine- 5, Cody- 13, Geo- 7, Cassidy- 4, Karla- 10, Gabler- 10, James- 7, Owen- 11, Noelle- 6, Sami- 9, Jesse- 12, Ryan- 5, Dwight- 9.

And there isn’t much else to talk about as I wrap up this post here. I have so much to do and so little time. I need more sleep than I’m getting and sometimes (and often) sleep more than I should. But I think that I’m doing a good job getting things done at times and hopefully won’t be as rushed as I was going into the weekend like I was last week or having to do as many posts at once as I did then ever again. So enjoy this post that isn’t too late. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
