Episode 43.3

While I have no way yet of knowing if this will happen or not, it is possible that telephone polls to my house could potentially affect this blog. I like doing them and will abandon shows that I watch in order to tell them what I want to. This could mean delaying this blog and, possibly, my one on CSI: Vegas as well. It would all depend on when they call.

Let’s get to the one time challenges from the twenty-ninth season. I did notice something about them which makes me glad that it wasn’t a Redemption Island season in the end. They did a lot of brand new challenges that were used in what would wind up being hero duels this season.

Man in the Box (reward challenge/hero duel from Suck it up and Survive): In this challenge, the players have to untangle rope to get two rings. The first ring will be used to retrieve a platform and bring it back. The second ring out of the box will get a second platform across the finish line to win. It could be done while social distancing. The name of the challenge references an Alice in Chains song.

Parallel Universe (reward challenge/hero duel from Method to This Madness): In this challenge, each player must get a ball past obstacles without dropping it. If they drop it, they’d have to restart. Once they make it through the obstacles, they must roll balls in a series of targets to win. This could be done while social distancing.

Sunset Grill (reward challenge/hero duel from Actions vs. Accusations): In this challenge, each player must race across a wobbly beam while using a paddle to transfer a wooden square. If they get six across, they win the challenge. It could be done while social distancing.

Game of Throw-ins (immunity challenge from Actions vs. Accusations): In this challenge, players will be tethered together in pairs, competing as pairs at a time. They would have to race through obstacles to get a ball and then get it into a basket. The first tribe to get three points wins. If they take out the part where they are tethered together, then this could be done while social distancing. The name is similar to the book series turned TV series Game of Thrones. Well, the book series is called A Song of Fire and Ice. I wonder if the books were finished being written yet.

Flips, Flops, & Flags (immunity challenge from Make Some Magic Happen): In this challenge, the tribe members have to race up a tall wall, push a cube to a series of posts, grab puzzle pieces at each post, and use the scrolls inside to solve a flag puzzle. It could not be done while social distancing.

Long Road to Ruins (reward challenge from Wrinkle in the Plan): In this challenge, each tribe member would help load puzzle pieces into a cart, push that cart to the base of a tower, use the puzzle pieces to build a temple (and lock you away), have a person race to the top of it to unlock a statue, and have everyone hoist the statue to the top to win. It could not be done while social distancing. The title of this challenge references a Foo Fighters song called Long Road to Ruin.

Shake it off (reward challenge from Getting to Crunch Time): In this challenge, players would face one on one against another person of the same gender to knock a person off of a wobbly beam over mud. As this is a physical challenge, it could not be done while social distancing.

Dirty Water Dog (reward challenge from This is Where we Build Trust): In this challenge, one player at a time would dive into the water, swim to a platform, jump off the platform to get a key, collect puzzle pieces, and use the keys and puzzle pieces to build a puzzle statue. If this were only individual, this could be done while social distancing.

Vase off (immunity challenge from Let’s Make a Move): In this challenge, contestants will hold onto handles, one with each hand, while their feet balance on a teeter-totter. The last person who doesn’t drop their vase wins the challenge. It could be done while social distancing.

When I shared two songs from Thomas the Tank Engine during my posts on Survivor 41 last year, it made me think that the next time Halloween came around, I would share the Halloween song from that show, namely Boo Boo Choo Choo.

The other Halloween song that I will share in this post is called This is Halloween, the opening song from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I now plan to share all of the songs from the movie, but I have them split into two different sections and will only share them chronically in one post at a time.

I ran out of time to cover all that I wanted to in the last post, just like I ran out of time to cover more of my NFL team rankings in this post. I’ll talk some about why this post is so late later in this post. Now I was going to mention how old Noelle is now. She is 25 now which means that she has been applying for Survivor for 6 years. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, the red tribe gets back from tribal council with Cody glad about how things are going. Jesse thinks about the side that he is on. Dwight wonders which tribe to joins. On the yellow tribe, there are more crazy issues with Gabler’s idol. Some believe that he can be convinced to give his supposedly powerless idol away. But Gabler knew all along that his idol is still good.

Sami tells Gabler that some were trying to use his idol with the search to confirm the advantage’s power now known to Gabler. He tells people such as the double agent Owen that he’s in favor of keeping this idol as a souvenir for his idol. Meanwhile, Noelle wants to keep her feet in the game, even though she only has the one foot still. On the blue tribe, some female (I miss who) finds the beware advantage, but leaves it alone. Other stuff happened as well.

In the second segment of the show, Nneka talks about wanting to help her mission team in Nigeria. She still wants to help out despite setbacks and being mad at God at times. Karla, the woman who found the advantage earlier, goes back to the advantage. She also has to get beads from all the players. She uses the lie of building a necklace for her wife. She even trades for them. I hope that she gets the right beads, but I’m not sure that she would be so dumb. We’ll have to see for sure. I love how she does this. And she doesn’t tell anyone that this is for an idol.

In the third segment of the show, we get to the immunity challenge that is also for reward as well. Noelle is doing this challenge without her leg. Why? The yellow tribe comes in first and blue tribe comes in second. This sends the red tribe to tribal council. Dwight is upset that Nneka and Jesse couldn’t do the puzzle and lost this challenge for their tribe. Meanwhile, three players, one from each tribe, are sent on the summit for a while.

In the fourth segment of the show, the red tribe thinks about their loss. Nneka thinks that she is partly responsible for her tribe’s loss. Jesse doesn’t want to vote for her since that would be like voting out his mom. But Ciera voted out her mom in Blood versus Water. Meanwhile, the summit happens between Noelle, Owen, and James. She is ready to do a threesome with these people that she has just met. Since she is on the outs, the men take no risk and Noelle gets the advantage automatically. Dwight thinks that the advantage will play into tribal council. Noelle lies and says that she didn’t get something, only to tell Dwight privately about it. She gets a steal a vote. She just wants to survive the night.

In the fifth segment of the show, the players talk about how they lost the challenge. Nneka gets a bit emotional about having to lose a tribe member. Cody talks about how there is still a game to play. Dwight talks about what to do. Noelle also talks about her journey. Most people are confident about how the vote will go. Survey says that most people don’t know how the vote will go. Noelle doesn’t use her advantage this time around despite not being as confident in the vote as the rest of the players either are or seem to be. No idols or advantages are played. The person voted out is Nneka.

On the next Survivor, the tribes finally get the looting advantage that we haven’t seen in a while. There is something weird going on potentially. And it is hard to think about much else that is going on. Because we all know that there will be drama.

Total confessional count: Nneka- 5, Gabler- 8, James- 4, Owen- 10, Noelle- 5, Sami- 5, Jesse- 6, Ryan- 2, Dwight- 8, Elie- 7, Jeanine- 2, Cody- 10, Geo- 3, Lindsay- 3, Cassidy- 2, Karla- 6.

I am unsure of planned future posts already as I share the tentative schedule for November’s blog posts. I have no idea what the plans for around Thanksgiving are so I have the day before and day of as unknowns at this point in time. I would doubt that they would air a new episode of CSI: Vegas on the day of Thanksgiving itself, but I have no idea what the schedule will be for that yet. I also don’t yet know if my church will be doing earlier Advent services like last year where it won’t mess up this blog and it won’t be delayed. Know that if I’m not able to watch Survivor live, I will blog about that on Sundays instead of on the usual delayed Thursdays.

I have a late post of this blog AGAIN! I’m in the late window where I’m counting this as a Tuesday post even if it may not be Tuesday anymore in some places. My blog may both count this as Tuesday and Wednesday. So what happened? Well, I did sort of have the time to finish writing this post, but I had to prioritize other things in my mind. It’s a shame because I could have before having to delay this post still done Survivor: Borneo posts during the airing of this season, but now that can’t happen. It seems that once a month since May, a post of this blog and only this blog even winds up delayed or not published at all when I said that it should be. It is often one or a combination of the following: weather, exhaustion, and time constraints. I can only hope that I have everything ready for the next post in advance, but am not sure that I will. We’ll see. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
