Episode 43.6

With it being October this month, that should mean time for some Halloween related things in my life. But with me stuck trying to watch a lot of movies now and no shows waiting to see their Halloween episodes for me this year, know that two of the things that I’m watching now, Invader Zim and 8 Simple Rules, have Halloween episodes I was hoping that I could get to this month, but this will probably not be the case this late into the month, especially with this as the last October post of this blog to be done on the last Wednesday of the month unless something strange or bad happens. I will be putting other stuff relating to Halloween in this post to make up for that.

Let’s get to the one time challenges from the thirty-third season of the show. We are now getting to the season of Millenials versus Gen x which is one of the more important seasons to me right now. While I do plan to get more past seasons of the show like that at some point, I won’t be buying anything for myself again this whole year that’s a gift like that.

Got to Choose (opening challenge from May the Best Generation Win)- In this challenge, contestants would have to race under an obstacle to get a war club. They then have to go through a rope tunnel, but can use a shortcut here. Players must then walk across a beam, but can also do a second shortcut as well. The tribes will then have to get a crate to the finish. A puzzle would then have to be solved which would have more pieces if more shortcuts were used. The first tribe to solve the puzzle wins. I think that a potential individual version of this could be done while social distancing. It is named after a Kiss song of the same name.

Rusty Gates (second immunity challenge from Million Dollar Gamble): In this challenge, contestants would have to maneuver a handle through a maze while behind a cage door. They then use the handle to unlock the door. After this, they have to complete a slide puzzle to win the challenge. This could easily be done while social distancing.

Pinball Wizard (second immunity challenge from Slayed the Survivor Dragon): It seems that the editors of Survivor fandom have dropped the ball on this one as none of the editors of this site mention what this challenge is like or how it is done. Hmm. This makes me wonder how to address this challenge now. I think that I will wait and see if I can find this online and might address it alone instead of doing a section like this in next week’s post. It is named after a song by The Who of the same name.

Draw the Line (penultimate immunity challenge from I’m Going for a Million Bucks): In this challenge, the players must move a buoy through the water, transport puzzle pieces across a teeter totter, and use the pieces to solve a word puzzle. This could be done while social distancing.

As promised, it is time for me to get to all of the Halloween stuff in this post. I plan to do something like this every October through all of the posts then. Now there are two things that I often do every time it is Halloween. Both relate to the Homestar Runner website. One of them is doing The House that Gave Sucky Treats. I’ll get to the other one in future years.

Now that I’ve shared some of the songs thus far from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I might as well get to the poem itself as it shows up in this YouTube video. It was this poem that lead to the movie that was made later, with this as the basis/inspiration.

Speaking of poems, I might as well get to The Raven poem, perhaps the best known poem, best known Halloween poem, and only known narrative poem. If you want to enjoy it, click this link. You probably know the gist of it offhand.

Continuing on with the football teams that I root for, I might as well get to the next highest and why. The playoffs are always an interesting time for me. While I mentioned that I root against the Falcons, the year they took the Rams out of the playoffs, they were beaten by that year’s eventually Super Bowl champion, the Philadelphia Eagles. Thus, they are team number 14 for me. I could do a t-shirt of the entire rankings of NFL teams if I ever got a complete list. I doubt that I will, though. How could I rank certain teams anyways? I’ll get to the unranked teams only at the very end.

Before I get to the show, I am a bit curious into some of how these twists will keep working. I have the feeling that if I were on top of my game and were actually playing Survivor, if someone came up to me and asked for any random trinkets of mine, I’d ask them point blank, “Do you need this in order to get an idol or advantage?” If the answer is no, they’re probably lying to me. Thus, I’m wondering how the summit, beware advantages, and twists like that will keep working season after season. I don’t think that I will speculate much or at all over how this will work. I’ll have to see what will happen. But enough of my ramblings.

In the first segment of the show, it is time for the merge. There isn’t much set up for that. Cody thinks that the niceness isn’t real. Jeanine has somehow dreamed about this since she was a little girl. That is a weird thing to dream about. Noelle knows something is up as there is not a merge feast or new buffs yet. I guess no one was duped ever since the first fake merge where the tribes never got a new buff and were only told later that they weren’t merged at all. Owen, who has no advantage, tries to keep track of who all has what and he knows a lot of them, but not all. He knows the no votes. Elie learns that Cody has an idol because of the beads. She tells this to another woman.

We get to the challenge and we learn that it is a sort of merge that, once again, they have to earn their way into. But no one can take this away from the winning tribe this time. There will be an odd one out. Maybe they will do videos about Sooubway? I’ll explain more in the next post. This person gets to bet on which team they will support. We get to the draw for teams about to be revealed.

In the second segment of the show, Noelle is the one who is out. I can’t keep track of who is on what team as they go through that too quickly. Noelle bets on the blue team. The color blue has been more successful lately than it used to be. I mean, Ulong and Matsing were both blue. But now it does much better. Should I do a post on the colors of tribes? I’m not sure if I care that much or know much about it in the end. I could gather more info if I had time to read other Survivor blogs.

Karla gets injured in the challenge with a bleeding hand. Are they going to treat that? Do they have to wait until after this is over? Also, do they have to solve the puzzle in reverse? I can’t tell. The blue team pulls a come from behind win which gives them the win. Sami talks about how someone’s dream is going to die. Also, Jeff talks about taking new applicants for Survivor. Does that mean what I think it does? I can’t be too sure as they wanted to cast more people for The Hustler, but cancelled that show in the end. But at least we know that they are interested.

In the third segment of the show, the losers talk about being in mergeatory. They want to get revenge on the people who helped the other tribe. They want to vote out Cody. James doesn’t trust Cassidy. Does anyone trust anyone in Survivor? Not trusting others are a similar theme. The players that won the feast have a bit of an alliance. Gabler throws Elie under the bus in front of everyone. Gabler isn’t that smart a player.

In the fourth segment of the show, we learn that Cody’s name was thrown out and Elie learns about the fact that Gabler told people that she looks through his bag. She confronts him about it and says that she didn’t do it. She has to do damage control. Now I’m forgetting who did that. I’ll have to check. Elie told Gabler that Jeanine had an idol. She learns about this when she tells him. When will people learn to keep secrets on this season? I’m shocked that they have yet to use something like that as a twist. Or maybe they just like the regular twists that they know will be blabbed. Elie is still a target by others. They all want to vote for James.

In the fifth segment of the show, we get to tribal council. Gabler says that things blow up with Ryan basically agreeing with him. Chaos has broken out. Jeanine mentions that everyone has to talk about what’s going on. Elie says that her name was brought up. Gabler is asked about how one might play an idol. His idol is only good for this tribal council. Is it not getting played? That would seem unlikely, but it could happen. One has to make sure that they make the right move. I couldn’t gather anything from that tribal council. It wasn’t crazy at all. I’m confused. Anyways, after the votes are cast and not one person plays anything, Elie is the person who is voted out.

On the next Survivor, Noelle might be in power, there is a power at the shelter, and Gabler has come up to the surface. What else can I say? There ain’t no disguising the truth. Anyone know what song I am referencing? I recommend looking it up sometime.

Total confessional count: Owen- 13, Noelle- 7, Sami- 9, Jesse- 13, Ryan- 6, Dwight- 9, Elie- 12, Jeanine- 8, Cody- 15, Cassidy- 5, Karla- 11, Gabler- 11, James- 9.

New confessionals this episode: Jeanine- 3, Cody- 2, Cassidy- 1, Karla- 1, Gabler- 1, James- 2, Owen- 2, Noelle- 1, Sami- 0, Jesse- 1, Ryan- 1, Dwight- 0, Elie- 3.

Now I have no idea who here follows other blogs of mine or not. But sometimes I have to juggle things around a whole lot. Thus, I’m posting a revised schedule with a note about how it might not stick. I do want to see a Survivor episode on Friday and probably will. That would change the newer schedule that is planned that you are now seeing. If that does happen, you won’t know the schedule since I won’t be able to post it before next month starts. This schedule, specifically the Friday part of it, is only going to happen if I don’t see Survivor on Friday. Otherwise, things will change and be different.

I really don’t want Friday posts to be done with, even if that will help with this blog. I do want to keep at least one day of the week where I can do old seasons of this blog open. All I know is that if my TV blog is posted on Friday, then it will phase out Fridays and I can’t do anything there at all. That is why I want there to be something for other blogs that wouldn’t otherwise have a set day of the week to post things on. I doubt this makes sense to anyone else. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
