Survivor: China episode 1: A Chicken’s a Little Bit Smarter

Well, it is time that I get to watching this season and blogging about it. There is a new list of shows to watch switching with the other list. This might have been the only time in quite a while when it made sense to add a new list due to confusion things might cause when other lists change or get in the way. Basically, I took this season and the next five choices in line to be added to my list of things to watch and they will form a new list. This seemed like the only way of moving forward.

Here are the rolls in the order that they will appear: Matlock season 1 is the first option, NCIS season 8 is the second; Power Rangers season 1, volume 1 is the third; Rare: Creatures of the Photo Arc is the fourth, Survivor: China is the fifth, and Winnie the Pooh tapes is the sixth. This new list will change in one of two ways. Either I will finish something from the main list, moving something from this list to replace it with the next option while putting the next in line on this list in its place or I will finish one of the things on the new list on its own without having to move it to another list and also adding the next thing waiting in line to this new list. Things will and could get confusing even more if I have to get rid of the main list upon being done watching Survivor: Gabon for reasons I’ll get into then.

Here is now a Friday updates update, if it makes sense. Sometimes like now, I will have to share this blog’s updates with other blogs. Fridays are a bit confusing since I often post two different blogs there. I tend to post my Good Wife blog that is still updated on the first Friday of the month and will often have the second Friday be giving to it as well sometimes. If a certain cheat I have where I have to update a certain blog is used that falls on Friday, I would update that blog (currently the Madam Secretary blog) on that specific day. I tend to post my Good Fight blog on the first available Friday not given to some other blog. Any other Fridays are not given to another blog for any reason (such as even rolling and watching an episode of Survivor) would be updated with a post of this blog, if it is available. Depending on how things go, I could wind up putting my CSI: Cyber blog on Fridays.

It was literally the first day that I could and did use the new list that I rolled a number five and got to watch an episode of this Survivor season as a result. Since July 16, 2020 was a Thursday and I normally give my TV blog to Thursdays, I will instead update my Madam Secretary blog and then switch between the two blogs as often as possible on some of the days. If I roll another episode on a Thursday the week after my TV blog was updated, then I update that blog again. If I roll another episode on a Thursday the week after my Madam Secretary blog was updated, then I’ll have to update my Good Wife blog. Also note that if the plan sticks regardless of potential other rolls, I will phase out updates of my TV blog on Thursdays should an update from that just happen to be the last Thursday of the month.

It nothing happens and affects the schedule of updates on Thursdays, this would mean that since the Madam Secretary blog was updated on 7-16-2020, the TV blog would be updated on 7-23-2020, then the Madam Secretary on 7-30-2020, then TV on 8-6-2020, Madam Secretary on 8-13-2020, TV on 8-20-2020, Madam Secretary on 8-27-2020, TV on 9-3-2020, and then things get confusing with a cheat that is on 9-10-2020 that wouldn’t be able to be applied to either blog as I’d have to find a new one to put it in. But like I said, a lot of things could change with the schedule of blog updates. The one that you saw in the last Survivor: Gabon post in June didn’t wind up happening like that. Now I realize that I’ve talked too much about other things so let’s get to this episode in question.

We begin with Jeff at a Buddhist monastery. We see the contestants with luggage and in more types of luxury than we are used to seeing. But they do get to the more remote places in the end. They are going to the lake of a thousand islands.

After the confessional-less introduction by Jeff and theme song that was still there at the time, we get to the contestants getting in the game at this temple. Chicken felt that this was a cool place. Peih-Gee is glad to visit China since she is of Chinese descent. Denise talks about this spiritual experience. Jeff claims that it is not religious in any way and is just a welcome ceremony. But Leslie thinks that it felt too much like worship and walks out of the welcoming ceremony. Jeff talks to her about it later, but she doesn’t think that it will affect her too much. The contestants learn that they are starting with the clothes on their back and, as it seems to happen most of the time, a woman is without a bra.

The contestants get their tribes revealed. The red tribe, Fei Long, is Aaron, Amanda, Courtney, Denise, James, John-Robert, Leslie, and Todd. The yellow tribe, Zhan Hu, is Ashley, Chicken, Dave, Erik, Jamie, Frosti (real name Michael), Peih-Gee, and Sherea. Amanda is happy to be on her tribe. They each get a copy of the book Art of War. They each leave for their separate camps. A boat will take them there, but they have to row the boat themselves. Aaron thinks that his tribe doesn’t know what is going on.

Courtney is not sure that she likes her tribe since they are too happy, but possibly seeming fake. Jean-Robert thinks that Todd is a bit devious. He wants to read the other players. Todd insists that he will do whatever he needs to do to win the million dollars. This makes Todd want to turn on Jean-Robert.

Meanwhile, the other tribe gets to their beach. Sherea was in heels so she takes them off. Chicken also talks about what to do by taking control of the tribe. Has he never seen the show before? Never take charge. Everyone hates this except for you. Ashley doesn’t want to lose and disappoint her fans. She is a wrestler. Peih-Gee isn’t sure how she feels about her tribe yet. Todd talks about his tribe and how they get along together. Leslie is a bit worried about James since he is working hard, but he reveals that he is a strong person due to his job digging graves.

There is a terrible storm that night. The shelter at Zhan Hu didn’t seem to last long. Chicken works on doing a new one. Ashley feels terrible and sick. She insists on staying in the game and not leaving. Dave talks to her about not worrying about being on the block while privately admitting that she will wind up on the block if she doesn’t recover.

On the other tribe, Todd wants to push the leadership role on Aaron. Aaron accepts this role. The other tribe gets treemail as well. Frosti talks about being a parcore (is that how you spell it?) champion and he needs to figure out where to go with certain things.

At the challenge, the tribe has to maneuver a dragon through an area. They also get their running shoes back for this challenge. James is getting the key and going ahead on his tribe. Frosti is on the other side. The challenge is pretty close the whole way, but Fei Long is the tribe that wins.

Back at Zhan Hu, the tribe gets a bit of a lecture. Peih-Gee is emotional before getting too tough. Ashley seems to have recovered from her sickness. Chicken thinks that Ashley is too weak. Ashley doesn’t seem to like Peih-Gee. It seems like the vote will be among Peih-Gee, Ashley, and Chicken, according to Dave. Is he right? Well, let's get to it.

We then get to tribal council. Peih-Gee thinks that this was harder than he thought it was. Chicken thinks that people weren’t in control of the tribe. Dave wants to be the leader and so does Peih-Gee. One has to be concerned. Jeff asks Dave what could make the tribe better. Chicken thinks that he should get rid of who is doing the least amount of work. Ashley isn’t sure that she’s fitting in with this group in the end. She thinks that her sickness made her do the least amount of work. Chicken is convinced that he’s not doing the least amount of work as he isn’t sure that he fits in.

The tribe then votes. Ashley votes for Peih-Gee. Dave and Chicken vote for Ashley. Peih-Gee, Erik, Frosti, Jamie, and Sherea vote out Chicken from the tribe. He gets upset. Someone keep him away from Link. We can’t have any crazy chicken attacking Link. He has to rescue Zelda.

On the next Survivor, Jean-Robert’s bluff is called. Dave is the leader of his tribe, but not everyone likes it, including Ashley suddenly despite her vote this episode being against the other leader of the tribe. I wonder what went wrong. Amanda becomes more of a pro wrestler than she could be or otherwise was. In his exit confessional, Chicken talks about how he liked to be here in the game.

Confessional count: Ashley- 2, James- 1, Amanda- 1, Courtney- 1, Todd- 3, Jamie- 0, Peih-Gee- 3, Denise- 1, Aaron- 2, Frosti- 1, Jean-Robert- 1, Chicken- 4, Leslie- 2, Dave- 2, Sherea- 1, Erik- 0.

Chicken seems like a nice person, but he didn’t seem like he made much of a mark as a player. I mean, you can’t really do that when you are the first boot. I don’t know just how old he is now or if he would want to go out and play Survivor again. All I know is that I’d put his chances of returning at around 35%. Maybe he wants to play again, but would he be chosen?

I can hope that every now and then, I can end a post or otherwise have a schedule of when I plan to update various blogs towards the end of each month in preparation for how it would be planned to have the updates for the next month. Now a plan doesn’t mean it will happen that way as this past month has turned out for me. Still, here is the planned update schedule.

We’ll see if any of this ends up happening the way I believe and plan it possibly will. This is just a way that it could happen. We’ll see what happens and don’t expect to see this blog updated on Sunday as I just don’t see how that could happen. Still, there are a lot of things to write and prepare for. Let’s hope that I can get it all done. For now, this is Adam Decker, signing off.
